2016 - when all of these were readily available at my AD

Ah, 2016 a simpler time. I walk into the AD and all of these are available on display. Boy how I wish I walked out with at least one

I am a HUGE Rolex fanboy. But this is one thing I REALLY DISLIKE about how Rolex conducts their business model of late. Simply not right and may be one reason why I may stray from their brand in coming years. I own (4) references right now and that may be it for a long time unless I can buy from AD and retail pricing.

Enough of my rant for now....sorry.

In SoCal, none of those have been readily available since 2012

Yup. My AD offered me 18% off a Batman in 2015, and I passed. You never know you are in the good times until they are gone.

Come on folks, this is part of what makes it fun. Would you rather they be available at local convenience store so you could pick one up with your paper and doughnut?

Am I the only one that quite likes the Rolex game, the anticipation and heightened desire when you are awaiting a call from your AD is exciting whilst a little frustrating. The euphoria of receiving the call and collection somehow makes the wait worth it! Admittedly I haven't waited too long for my first three watches and I have enjoyed the game so far.

Yeah I bought my SubC ND in 2016 in North East, UK and the AD was being a jerk so I literally drive 15 miles to another town and bought one there instead

I remember ... I bought a BLNR that had been sitting in the AD display case for about a week.

No, but the current state of affairs is ridiculous. I’m lucky that I am willing to, and can afford to spend a bit more to get what I want from a grey. I pity the poor sole that has to depend on a MSRP purchase from an AD. That’s got to be very frustrating.

Not being able to buy a luxury item at what is clearly an artificially low price is now some thing worthy of pity?

Miss em too. Granted out out your pics I’d only be interested in 2. SDK and Exp.

Well Platinum Daytona of course but out of my league when it comes to watch spending.

I remember in 2014 walking into a watch store that just got their Rolex authorized dealership and they had both white and black 116520 stainless Daytona’s in the case.

The only watch I bought in 2016 was a black stainless Audemars Piguet royal oak 15400 brand new from a trusted seller for about half of the price they go for now.
It’s amazing how much has changed in 4 years.

When I bought my first Rolex in 2010, I knew that you could buy a stainless professional (sub, gmt, Daytona) and wear it for 5-10 years then get your money back.
I don’t think there were any watches that sold for over retail a decade ago.
Now almost everything in stainless steel is hard to get.

In 2016 I walked in and bought my BLNR. Hulks were still discounted at that time.

Yeah, 2016 was the last of the good times.

Turned down a green sub because they wouldn’t budge on price, it sat in the store for weeks at least. Instead went to another AD and picked up an 114060 at 15% off and got to pick between the two they had in stock. Times were good.

All of them were readily available here on the forum from all the big established trusted resellers. As the saying goes You snooze, you lose!

There were used Hulks in the for sale section here all over the place for $7600. BNIB ones for selling for around $8200 and stayed that way for quite awhile. Apparently back in 2010 AD's couldn't give Hulks away when they were first released.

True, but it quits being fun when you can't get anything. It'd be fun if there was hope, but there is currently no hope outside of grey.

Delayed gratification is doubled gratification, but in Rolex Land, delayed gratification is. . .

Anybody remember when AD’s held watch and scotch events, and you could try on, and purchase any model you pleased? Get liquor’d up and buy watches! They don’t even hold events anymore...
