Buckley Dial time line ?

For the DD & DJ did they start in 1970 and run till 1979 ?

I have recently seen some Buckley's earlier than 70" and was wondering ?

Thanks

What if our intrepid owner of a 1966 DJ wanders in to an RSC in 1980 for a service and wants a dial that glows and the counter person shows a tray filled with the 10 currently available service dials and he decides that nice painted Roman with the cool black hands will do...as happens thousand upon thousands times a year and has for the last 60 years.

Production dials are also service dials. Will you turn down a 60s DJ with a later dial...or bracelet? Is it 'wrong'?

I have a 1991 (by serial number) Date (34mm) with a beautiful Buckley dial and in 2-tone. So, I'm not sure about your date range there.

Would love to hear more. Thank you!

Is the coronet on the dial gold?

It seems to me that most of the ones I see are in the 72-78 range. But recently I have seen a few in the 67-69 range, I was just trying to check my thinking. Of course there is always going to be dial swaps to factor in.

That is spot on and sums up RSC in the 80s. I remember Rolex pushing newer dials/hands for any service. Rolex means excellence. It was never in the business for refurbishing watches, but provided customers with the highest standards in the industry. Every watch going to back to their rightful owners looked like it came out of the Rolex store.
