Here is my modest 42mm+ collection

Apparently, I am a fan of Richmont.

From this motley crew; you see 3 titanium, 2 brushed SS, and 1 ceramic... no shiny polished cases

3 with long power reserve and indicators

I do have some special sub 42mm pieces but not shown here in the “big wrist” collection

Nice! Have always had a soft spot for the IWC 3536 and especially so for the late models w/o tritium like yours.

That 317 is a winner. Thinking of scoring one of those or a 335. We will see.

Very nice collection.

How do you like that ceramic? 317? How does the weight feel? Had my eye on that watch for donkeys.

Thanks Alfredo; the 317 is a fun piece and good travel given the toughness of the ceramic

Very nice collection.

You can get a 317 at pretty good preowned price! I would go for it!

I love the 317... killer travel piece since ceramic is tough. Granted...don’t drop the piece on tile floor; shows no scratches!

Yeah; watching the rates. If either drops below 10k, I may pull the trigger. I like that the 317 is manual winding.

Thanks WB... the Sinn is a great 60 min central chrono. Very clean dial; would have loved if they removed the date completely. Tegiment steel make it also very tough and shows no scratches based on the Vickers

I too, am a fan of manual winding (esp for Pams) and would choose the 317 over the 335. I am not sure, but I assume the 335 will sit higher on the wrist due to the rotor. I like the fact that the 317 doesn’t have a date (one less thing to set). But if you want the date; than got to get the 335.

Very cool collection. How does the BP wear in comparison to the 317? I have the 335 and I’ve been contemplating on adding a Big Pilot. FYI, I have 6.5”wrist and this is how it looks.

That 335 looks good on you. I was contemplating the BP for long time. I think the trick with the BP, it’s good to be Not in-between holes on the strap. Otherwise it might creep on the wrist and the crown could dig in the wrist. I used to be 6.75, but it seems I am closer to 7 now. You can see pending the angle of the photo, the watch looks differently on the wrist. It’s definitely going to wear bigger than the 44 luminor and it will look bigger with the thinner bezel and relatively shiny ness compared to matte black.

That’s a time warp for me. Back in the day the BP and (more broadly) Sinn watches were particularly popular watches on a certain Panerai forum. And Linde Werdelin was another very popular crossover brand.

The 338 is a handsome watch. Many years ago I had a 190, slightly larger, and it was probably still to this day the watch which received most compliments from random people.

Haha Jay...it’s like I didn’t get the memo that these watches are out of style now... I am still influenced by those old Panerai posts with sinn and Panerai watches dunked in glasses of beer

You have a wonderful collection!
to answer the question about the 317 thickness vs the 335 -

317 is app 19.3mm thick;
335 is app 18.7mm thick

So the 335 is marginally slimmer. A little counterintuitive, given the need for the rotor (vs manual wind of 317) - but I believe the chrono complication on the 317 adds componentry that requires a bit more thickness.

I wound up going for the 335; I liked the balance that the "9" provides on the dial. and an extra few days of power reserve (while being auto) helps, when rotating watches frequently!

Seeing the recent push in ceramics on the AP side, the 317 and 335 are proverbial bargains. (sure, they're not PCs, nor are they open-worked, etc..)

Hope you're enjoying the bay area!

From So Cal?
I lived in West LA for many years, and we spend a lot of time in Orange County

Which version of the 5002 is that?

Love IWC watches
I used to have a 3950 and 3706...
