My first Omega
This Seamaster was a Christmas gift from my wife.
So far, it's a very comfortable watch to wear. The only thing I've noted is that the watch keeps great time when on my wrist, but seems to speed up when sitting in my watch box. |

Cool Omega Merry Christmas I would say your wife has a good eye for watches.
How much does it speed up at rest? That caliber should be pretty stable and accurate. |

It picked up about 5 seconds in a 12 hour period. I'll keep an eye on it to see if it settles in after a few weeks.

Thanks. I tried it on the strap at the AD, but held out for bracelet. For whatever reason, my wrist seems like it shrinks as the day goes on, so having the tool-less sizing adjustment in the clasp is a huge plus.

As for the time thing, give it a week or two and see if it settles down. Mine has been keeping excellent time on or off. Runs slightly fast, 2-3 sec/day

Merry Christmas! Your wife did very well, thats a great gift
I too agree to see what it does after a few weeks, be consistent with how youre resting it to get a true sense of whats going on, if you normally rest it on its side or dial up or down, whatever you do just be consistent my seamaster is generally +2/day for the past year, wearing it almost every single day, spare a few here and there it rests dial up when i take it off before getting into bed |

What a great Christmas gift! That's one of my favorite watches available right now. You're a lucky man to receive that from your wife!

Congrats! White dial looks great. It was runner up for me as I chose the black. Rubber strap is very comfortable if you end up wanting it.

Gorgeous watch, and a fantastic gift!
Firstly, let it settle down. Any mechanical needs a few months to do this, it’s a bit like running in an engine. Then, by looking at the rate over, say a week, average out what it’s gaining or losing in a day. My, much older, Seamaster gains a consistent 1 1/2 secs a day. Personally I think that”s fine, but if you are worried you can adjust the rate by changing the position you store it in. I have seen tables that give the approximate number of seconds gain or loss when stored in different orientations. I don’t have one for that movement, but I’m sure there is one out there! |
