Sub vs. GMT

Hello all and Happy New Year! Trying to make a decision between new 41mm sub w/date or Pepsi on jubilee. Thoughts? Also if you don’t mind, post photos if you own either watch.

Happy New Year! This decision is very easy: Pepsi on jubilee!

I have a 124060 and waiting (im)patiently for a Pepsi. I think the correct answer here is both!

Different bracelets, different functions and different color bezels make it a perfect combo!

Both are excellent choices however...if you can get either...I would make Pepsi first, then Sub.

Both

No but really, if you feel like you like them equally then if you have the chance you really would be helping yourself out to try both on if at all possible.. if you have a wrist on the larger side I think you’ll prefer the sub for that reason.. smaller/Pepsi

I love both equally

I say Sub. My reason is Rolex has essentially conceded that the maxi case look went too far and has now steered the Sub back towards its classic proportions. The GMT may make a similar change in the coming years (fingers crossed). Of course if you actually prefer the maxi look then the GMT is fine, but I'm holding out hope that they change the look.

I find the submariner to have the best and most satisfying tactile feedback of any other watch bezel. The glide lock is supreme in its comfort. These two things, alongside the fact that the timing bezel is useful for when I cook, makes the Submariner my favorite watch I have ever owned.

I think there's no bad choice here. Do you prefer oyster or jubilee bracelet? Does the bezel design matter? Do you need or want greater depth rating or GMT complication? Do you want flash or under the radar?

I'd go with Pepsi, as I think a GMT is more useful, and it's a stunning looking watch. As with all things, YMMV.

You really can’t lose, but the GMT is a little tougher to find at retail

The Sub and GMT lines are now sufficiently different in appearance to warrant owning both as compared to back then when it was black oyster v black oyster.

But as a first, maybe the Sub as it is definitely more versatile.

What size is your wrist? The GMT now wears much than smaller then the 41 sub. If your wrist is less then 6.75” I would recommend the BLRO. Food for thought.

Get the Submariner. Look how flat it lays on the wrist

To me, there’s no way to make a strong case for one over the other, it’s a personal choice.

On the larger wrist side, but this is helpful.

I personally would pick the GMT over the Submariner as it’s more watch for just a little bit more money and I would still be able to take it down to 33m

No date Sub, IMHO a must for any collection
Sets the standard that everyone else has tried to copy.

I usually prefer a little bit of color so will choose GMT.

GMT BLRO. I fail to see how the Sub is more versatile; how many Sub owners dive deeper than 100 meters/300 ft?

I guess that depends on what you plan to use the watch for

in my opinion the submariner is hands down the greatest wrist watch ever made

if you are a peroson who travels a lot the GMT might be a better choice

I would take the one that makes your heart skip a beat - then you know you made the right choice

If it’s your one and only, Sub. If you have a collection where you have another tough diver, then GMT.

If you can, keep/buy both. Cheers!
