Curious “stains” on oyster links

I’ve been enjoying a silver dialed 126000 for a few months now and in the middle of my regular cleanings (I use wristclean, brush and rinse with lukewarm water) I noticed something strange. There appears to be some darkening / discolouration on a number of my bracelet links (along the edge of where the outer link meets the inner link). It wasn’t always there and this isn’t uniform across the whole bracelet and localized to 4 links (2 on the 12 and 2 on the 6 side). Hopefully the photos help.

Now let me add by saying this doesn’t necessarily bother me but I’m asking for thoughts generally out of curiousity. As my first rolex, I don’t have the luxury of experience that many of you have.

What am I seeing? Is this something others have seen before? Surely it’s not corrosion but could it be a lubricant stain? Anyone reckon it’s removable?

I can assure you it’s not a shadow or a lighting trick. And I’ve tried to clean it off with rubbing alcohol, dish soap, wristclean and water. I’m stumped.

Wash with some blue Dawn and then spray it. Problem solved.

Not quite so easy. Like I said - I’ve tried the usual cleaning tricks. Still persists.

The new type bracelets are made to a tighter tolerance than the older bracelets so there will be some friction between the links but nothing to worry about.

Consider that a mystery solved.
Like I said, it doesn’t bother me all that much but I do like knowing the cause - especially if there’s nothing to be done about it.
And unless I find it to cause any mechanical issues, I’ll continue to enjoy.
Thanks!
