1861/1863 with 17% Discount or 3861/3863 at Full Retail??
I have the opportunity to buy, from my local AD, either or both, the 1861/1863 at a 17% discount or, pay full retail for the latest and greatest 3861/3863 models, from my local OB. As I do intend to buy one of each, what would you do? Your comments are most appreciated, especially from owners of these watches. Thanks!

Wow 17% discount on the 1861 is awesome. My discount was 0% from my AD on that one last week.

Really?? Most of the ADs, out here in SoCal, discount heavily......I got 17% off as well on the NTTD with Milanese bracelet.........sold it however as I couldn't deal with the discomfort, at least for me, from the bracelet....small wrist being the issue from what I've read and learned since........

Since you intend to buy both the clear answer is buy the 1861 now. Imho

I'm on a waiting list for the Snoppy-3. I'll give it until June 2022. If by then I don't get the call for the Snoopy I will purchase the new Speedy Moonwatch 3861 in hesalite. I'll probably get a discount as well. ;) |

The refinements on the new 3861 are quite stunning. If you want both, buy the 1861 now and a 3861 later. Want one, buy the 3861.
Ultimately, buy the one you like and will wear! |

With that bracelet and clasp on the 3861 I think I'd buy the 1861 at retail even if they offered 17% on the new one.

The 3861 is impressive but to get a 1861 at $1k off MSRP would push me towards the 1861. I would then pick up the 3861 later down the road.

I own an 1863 and I actually looked at the 3861 sapphire today. (I'm personally not a hesalite fan and I like having a view of the movement.) Both watches are obviously similar to one another but somewhat different in subtle ways and it really depends on which one speaks to you more. Have you seen them in person?
The safe play is to get the 1861 and/or 1863 today at the discount because they won't be making them any longer and the discounts on the new releases will only grow as time moves on. |

I just got the 1863 at 20% off, and plan to add the new hesalite if and when a discount is available, maybe a year or so we shall see.
You can’t go wrong with either of your choices, both great deals in my opinion.

Well, none of it, as I presume you are pointing out.
The true moon watches are thought to be 321 movements, but the 861 came out late 60s and were used for several space missions anyways. I think the 861 would have done a lap around the moon while on Apollo 17 if I remember correctly. My understanding is that 1861 is basically the same as the 861, and would have been used during the space shuttle days/recent ISS EVAs. Both share a lot of DNA with the 321 and are true descendants. The 3861 on the other hand is an entirely different beast, not really based on the 321/861/1861 at all from what I’ve read. So in my view, if one is buying a moonwatch for the historical nod, a brand new 1861 is as close to a NOS release as you’ll get without forking out for an Ed White as it has the certification directly from NASA testing (rather than on behalf of omega), and is basically an unchanged movement from 1968 when the 861 was introduced. |

AD is now at 20% discount on 1861 and 1863 so I think I'll take one of each!!! Also, is willing to give a small discount once new ones arrive.

I'd choose the 1861 (my preference). I had the opportunity to buy the new 3861 Hesalite but turned it down.
