Good service from RSC

Haven’t posted on here for a while. My Daytona stopped running around a month after it’s warranty expired. I sent in the watch to my AD and was told Rolex is very strict on the cut off time regarding warranty. Got my watch back today, with surprise of no charge on the out of warranty repair. The turn over time is also fast, about 2 months total. However the watch is returned with no paper or anything, just the box and pouch. Is it normal?

That’s good from RSC. I believe if you had it serviced then you get the service warranty and the card associated with it. This is probably a warranty repair hence no other paperwork perhaps.

It sounds like Rolex honored the warranty for whatever reason. Warranty repairs generally do not come with paperwork or charges.

If you’d pod for service, you’d receive paperwork and a two year warranty on the service work

Seems like a win to me

Thanks. So does that mean since I didn’t pay for it, there is no additional warranty?

Looks good. If they didn't charge, then they covered it under warranty and wouldn't give you a new warranty.

Had my 116520 serviced under warranty too a few years back at Dallas RSC. Got no paperwork with it either. And no, you will not get any additional warranty either since you didn't pay for the service. What was a little frustrating to me was that I was not given any information on what part failed and had to be replaced. I suspect it was a mainspring failure but again, no information was provided.

Good to hear. On Monday I’ll be shipping them my DJ41. It’s running over a minute slow per day.
I’ll be be using the Dallas center. Which one did you use?

I had a really good experience with Dallas RSC FYI.

Had my Tudor Chrono serviced there. Polish/refinish looks great. Time keeping is great.

Only issue was turn around time, which is attributed to COVID and thus somewhat understandable.

Op, glad to hear you got treated well. Great watch!

I don't know what you expect or what is customary in your part of the world.

The repair was performed solely as a gesture of "goodwill" on the part of Rolex. Goodwill repairs are a blessing and Rolex is well known for such things.
They didn't have to, but they did because it's another prime example of great customer service and it was deemed by higher up to be in the best interests of the brand.
They would've done it without batting an eyelid.
Because it was covered under warranty regardless of the fact the watch is out of warranty, the normal rules apply.
That is. Rolex does not reveal the nature or scope of work required to effect repairs and there are no further warranties applied.
So you don't get a 2 year International Service Warranty card.

It was not a service you paid for, so you simply don't qualify for any other considerations on the matter.

Enjoy the watch and chalk it up to another example of great customer service

Same here. I asked the AD what went wrong but wasn’t given a clear answer.

Thanks. The turn around time is ok for my case. I was told at beginning it may take 4-6 wks to get checked and quote but to my surprise, it’s returned within 2 months and no charge :-).

I expected to pay, and know the cause of issue. No charge is a surprise but I can still wonder, right?

Same thing happened to me a few years back. I was 6 months past the warranty and they gave me a complimentary service and did not give me the additional two year warranty. I’m pretty sure there was some paperwork that came back with the watch. Watch is long gone, so I can’t check.

I was more than satisfied with the way they handled it.

Like the story of a man driving his Rolls Royce way out in the country, broke down a long way from anywhere. No phone, he had to walk 2 miles, called and a fully stocked RR repair truck arrived, went to his car, fixed it and he was on his way, no questions asked.
The man sent a letter to RR thanking them for the excellent service and repairs on his broken down Silver Spur. He received a letter back from RR headquarters saying “thank you sir for your patronage as an owner, but perhaps you are mistaken - Rolls Royces don’t break down”.

Yeah I am. I expected to pay $1000 for the repair and now I can use the money towards my next purchase, maybe a Tudor black bay 58 blue.
