Swap no date sub/ss 2019 gmt for blue sky-dweller

I own a 2020 no date sub & a 2019 GMT ii 116710LN. I am considering swapping both for a Sky-dweller blue dial. Honest opinions on my thoughts about this would be good. I am only considering this right now.

Honestly, don’t buy the hype of the blue dial SkyD. At retail yes considering how much it’s valued in the secondary market. To trade 2 good watches, especially the 16710 GMT would be a one sided trade. Get on the list for a black SkyD. It’s the same watch minus the blue dial.

I will wait until my AD is open and see what they come back to me with. I will enquire about the SkyD. My gut is they will discontinue it as they don't seem to produce many so in my mind the price will only rise.

The Skydweller blue is a spectacular watch, but not worth that two for one swap IMO.

Skydweller owner checking in (white dial), I agree with others. Don't do it. Get the black dial or white dial if you really want, don't pay the blue dial tax. Not worth it. If you really want to swap I'd do GMT + money for skydweller (black/blue) You'll still have a GMT in your collection and some diversity.

Now that i have put it out there so to speak i agree with you. A swap for either of my watches would be good but not both.

I am building towards either the white gold GMT or the rose gold GMT so i would be using the SkyD as part of the way up to either the white gold or rose gold GMT. I am just going to wait for covid to pass and give us back our freedom

I agree with the others. Trading two watches for one is often a very iffy deal; in this case your two watches are top references, among the most sought after Rolex watches these days. And I happen to like them better than the SkyDweller, regardless of the dial choice.

I am pleased i come onto the forum to put it out there with you guys. I think with covid & i lost a friend (non covid related) between xmas & new years eve it has made me a bit out of sorts.

In my head it would be nice to have a change and still focus on the precious metal GMT's so thanks guys for pulling me back in.

I would only be trading the pieces i have for either GMT when i have the funds so ill wait.

I prefer both the Sub and the GMT over the SkyD.

I agree with the others. Maybe just swap
The GMT and keep the sub. Also as others have said... the blue dial is stunning but not worth the gray premium compared to white/black. Personally I love the black!

I think the black or white dial may be a better option

Having owned all those watches my only advice would be to make sure the skydweller is a good fit. My wrist is 7-7.25 and it’s a large watch that wears a bit sloppy compared to a gmt or even sub.

If size and fit is no issue then go for it. It really has a lot of wrist presence if that’s what you’re seeking.

No.

From a two Sky Dweller owning fan of the reference.

I love the Sky Dweller but you have to draw the line somewhere. The black SS is also a very handsome watch with a sunburst dial.

Yes, the blue SS is lovely. Is it really that desirable?

I think change is where i am at. They all have wrist presence imo. That is a nice blue dial. I may end up getting a black or white dial from my AD if im lucky. The blue is nice but all the skyd are nice.

My 2 cents... the swap you consider seems very unreasonable and I see a lot of regrets down the way. Yes the Sky D is awesome, yes it’s big and shiny, yes it’s a marvelous piece of engineering that generally means the wearer knows a thing or two about watches...but is it worth the premium on grey market? I don’t think so, at least not to today’s extense. And on top of that you have to pay the « blue dial tax »? To me that’s a non sense. Keep your two watches, the GMT is awesome (although not as awesome as a 16710 pepsi, but still) and the sub 2020 is a keeper (been trying to get one myself for a while now) and try to get a sky D at retail. And last but not least keep in mind that black is the new blue.

I love the Sub/GMT....but I'd do it if it makes you happy. The SkyDweller in blue is a great watch, but I suspect you'll miss having a true sports watch at some point down the line.

i would debate it even if it was a PM Skydweller. (not the money side of it, i just dont like the skydweller much)

I am a huge Sky-Dweller fan and own all three SS dial models and a YG one. For me it would be as much about the numbers, value, of the watches and do you really want the watch more than the two models you have. The white dial is nice and can really be a one and only as it is unique. The black dial is strong and can look somewhat grey in the right light conditions. The blue, well it speaks for itself and is very difficult to come by. If possible go try on a Sky-Dweller and see for yourself if it is a good fit for you, both literally and figuratively. No bad decision here either way you go as all the watches are great.

I think market value seems a fair trade but in all honesty just go with what you actually prefer. If you need the blue Sky-Dweller and you think you won't regret it then cool, if you have a doubt then you can't be 100% all in.

Me personally - No. I'd rather keep what you have or maybe trade the GMT LN for a Pepsi or BLNR on jubilee to have a different look and a bit of colour as both your models are full black bezel and oyster bracelets - albeit one is brushed and the other polished.

I would not do this. A 2019 GMT II black is quite a keeper.

White is incredible, and at one point the least costly option (lucky for me, having seen all references side by side, it was my first choice)

I am actually considering a part ex for the pepsi. I bought my GMT from an AD so I am earning from it so if I find a dealer with one who will part ex for the right price that will be the one I choose.. I like the SkyD so I may think of it again soon. Im glad I asked as it helped me work it out so thanks guys 😎
