Chevrolex (Chevy/Chevrolet signed Rolex)
So I've noticed a few examples of Rolex Dates and Datejusts with the Chevy "Bowtie" on the caseback floating around on the internet from both reputable dealers and private sellers, and I was curious if anyone has any info on these watches as far as who gets them and why, and what models, if any, are there with a Chevy caseback besides Dates and Datejusts?
I recently purchased a 9-million serial ref. 16000 "Chevrolex" Datejust and would love to learn any info about these from those who have any, and feel it would be a good resource for folks who want to know more about these watches. Here is mine: And here is one from Bob Maron, with original papers: https://robertmaron.com/rolex-vintage-date.html |

I believe they were award watches given to car salesman and managers. Rolex’s were pretty popular bonuses at one time in the car business.

Rolex had a great collaboration with Chevrolet (the founder Louis Chevrolet was a Swiss car race driver). In 1986 they commissioned a watch to celebrate the car manufacturer’s 75th anniversary where the dial features the famed Chevy “bowtie” logo design with diamond-set numerals . The watch was awarded to dealerships with exemplary sales records.

I have seen a few Day Dates that are engraved 'GM' on the back but not Chevrolet. They are out there as given for service awards.

Yes, they handed out many different brand watches as awards. Living in the Metro Detroit area I’ve found a few gold 25yr watches in junk bins at garage sales. None Rolex though
