Curious: Have you heard of bundling Pateks on the same purchase day?

I've personally bundled and gotten multiple sports steel rolexes by bundling and collecting both watches on the same day (support watch + the main watch i want)

But out of curiosity, has anyone ever heard this being done with Patek- for eg, an annual calendar purchased with an aquanaut, on the same day, instead of purchasing an AC, only to be placed on some mysterious list and wait years for the aquanaut to be given?

Thanks in advance.

Anything is possible. Just ask the AD. If they have it in the back vault, they may bundle it for the right "support watch". But instead of thinking in the AC price range, I would guess the PC price range.

A purchase I made a couple years back sure felt like it. It was a combined PP/Rolex boutique, where I had purchased a SS Datejust and 126660 Deep Sea prior. I decided it was time to pull the Patek trigger, and bought one of the few non sport models I liked, a blue dial 5205G, after which my Rolex SA invited me across the way to his part of the store and offered me the new Batman. I was probably going to get the Batman regardless of the Patek purchase, but he did comment that hey, I just dropped $50k on a watch, what's another $9k? LOL

i believe now manufacturers are demanding more information about the customers that get thier most desired watches. so chances of that happening is becoming less and less

My Rolex dealer doesn't bundle. I picked up a new JC Deepsea at retail last week, no problem. (BTW...Love it!) Have previously purchased Ceramic Daytona, Pepsi GMT, Bluesy, GMT2C, Daydate2, and a bit of jewelry for GFs.

My Patek dealer says no desirable watch will not be bundled, period.
I purchased a 5712 in 2017 then was allocated a 5522. Since 2018 I've asked for a 5990 and/or 5711r. Now it seems those pieces are either a pipe dream, pay huge markup from a grey, or accept some sort of bundle of stuff I don't want.

I get why they feel the need to do it but it's really turned me off to the brand. I'm just not going to do it. Doesn't feel good and not worth it either literally or figuratively.

At this point I would prefer if Patek simply sold direct. Otherwise, I'm going to enjoy what I have and find a new expensive hobby. :P

I would only go with the same day purchase of both pieces instead of disappointment later.

I personally wouldn’t play these games and only buy the watches I want. If you really like the brand and buy perpetual calendar or chronograph you will eventually get the other sports watches too. If only want a sports watch I’d just pay the price and buy on gray market.
If you do go for a bundle I wouldn’t put too much faith in promises to get you a sports watch somewhere down the line, make sure it’s included.. Some people I know have been let down like this.

Yep, have been doing this a long time now. In the end a watch is just a watch, I don't want to kiss up to some ADs. It's cheaper to just buy from grey.

A few years ago when I wanted to buy 5131P, a friend told me the AD he buys from has one in the vault, so I asked him what other watches I need to buy to get it, he asked for me and the reply was a quarter million dollar diamond women Nautilus. I said no thanks, I will just buy from grey and save money.

I recently just had mt AD ask me what I do for a living too as I’m waiting for a watch. Is this strange? They said tourneau is asking for a list of what their customers do.

Tough to bundle when the watch you want isn't even in their vault.

Are you a flipper trying to make a quick buck?

That's basically what they're trying to find out.

Bundling should not be confused with “being a good customer that doesn’t just ask for Patek sports watches”

I asked the Patek AD for 2 watches: 5270P salmon dial and 5712 steel blue dial. I did not outright ask for a bundle but strongly hinted at it. They told me they have the 5270 in stock and i can get it right away but no 5712. i have to wait for it. After i pressed them as to how long the wait would be, they said they cant give me a time but i would be near the top of the list. No purchase history here. So the waiting lists are pretty much BS and all that matters is what you buy before.

If i bought both from gray would still be cheaper than buying both from AD.

They dont care

I'm not clear on the point you are making - they don't care about what?

You are wanting to buy both a 5270P and a 5712 and you are surprised that this puts you on an expedited delivery path?

I making the point that they dont care if you can buy the same watches in the gray market for cheaper. And they also dont care that you spend EUR 190k on a grand complication, you still have to wait for a 40k sports model, albeit less.

I had a sense of general non caring even though i was prepared to spend a small house in their shop.

In Hong Kong, the general rule for getting a Nautilus / Aquanaut is to submit a name card to the AD. The AD then picks and chooses which name card to submit to the local distributor here (i.e. the Patek representative).

They do background check on the person on the card, including calling the number to make sure that person exists, and also searching on the internet to make sure the qualifications are genuine.

At a Patek dinner in 2019, I was told that many people submit fake cards pretending to be doctors or lawyers in the hopes of getting a Nautilus / Aquanaut.

My AD says it's a lot easier to get a Nautilus / Aquanaut with no purchase history if you are a doctor / lawyer or senior civil servant (government employee), as apparently Patek thinks the chances of flipping are lower.

A dealer (in anything, not just watches) is primarily interested in what will bring in the most money. If this takes "bundling", favoring existing customers, working with resellers etc. so be it. Unless one knows the options and sales practices of an individual dealer, it's likely not worth the effort to speculate. Just establish the market price of both the item you want and the bundled goods you don't (perhaps less than MSRP) and make an economic decision. I have concluded that waiting on a "list" is a low reward activity.

Offer and Demand
collecting watches was fun when" the offer " came from the AD, but now " the offer "comes from the grey market and is up to us "the Demand" to keep it or not. The other way to handle it is from the manufacturer, and that is what Patek is doing now by reducing the number of ADs in the country

I'd happily welcome this as it would theoretically benefit me, but quite interesting that this is what the watch world has come to.

Sooo...Anyone want to drop my card at their Hong Kong AD for me?

Hi does anyone here knows how to bundle the Tiffany 5740 or the discontinued Tiffany 5711?

La Bernadine on me upon successful pick-up. Cheers.
