Get couple close-up pictures of the dial and hands.
From first glance, the dial and hands look to be the product of Yuki. Back in the days,30-40 years ago, when the early Rolex gilt and matte dials were starting to get bad, Yuki was the one who supplied watchmakers all over with these dials using old tritium ... They are from your neck of the woods too. Perhaps you should give them a visit. The case looks beefy, unmolested (re-cut $hit!) |

That’s a weird, oddly bright shade of yellow on those markers. Besides being (at least subjectively) not very attractive, I’d wonder how they might have been altered.

Yuki is a huge maker/supplier of aftermarket watch accessories. Don't let the name fool you, they are not Japanese. They are owned and operated by couple of Hong Kong ex-Rolex technicians. They've been doing this since the 70's. They are well known amongst the older generation of watchmakers. They can send you a catalog if you contact them. Here's their website: https://www.yukiwatch.com/index.html |

Thx again on feedbackof turbowatch and 1665fan.Could you guys help abit further by giving more insight on why you are convinced that the dial is the product of yuki and not a genuine vintage piece? From my limited knowledge, the dial seems to have the traits of being the real thing.

Or if I may approach the issue from another angle- is there some fool proof way to prove the dial is genuine ? Maybe from the dial.back? Because I really like the watch and have a strong interest to buy if its genuine. Thx again.

Once you see a lot of these watches and dials, aftermarket ones just 'look wrong', from the text, to the coronet, to the colour of the lume.
There is a dealer, HQ Milton, who have an archive on their website of hundreds of watches they've sold in the past which will include a number of genuine gilt 5513s. Compare the dials on these watches to the dial in question in terms of font spacing, coronet shape and lume consistency and you'll see what I mean. |
