Not an "incoming", just a little story...
I was in my shopping centre this morning when the date, 26th February, suddenly occured to me. I bought my Submariner 14060 new from an AD on this exact date in 1996…so I´ve now been wearing it almost every day for 25 years! (If I´d known then about the current Rolex "madness" I´d have bought a whole selection of Rolexes!) I took a quick crappy iPhone selfie of it on my wrist in front of my supermarket. My first and only Rolex. What a tough, loyal watch! I can´t think of a better everyday watch for me personally. It´s been serviced in-house twice at my AD, and has never been polished. I´m one of those “weird” chaps who loves the many swirls, scratches and dings it has collected over a hard life! I take it in once a year for a free pressure check, but haven´t been able to so for a year now because of the endless lockdowns here in Germany. But I regularly check that the crown is screwed down tight.
Anyway, my faithful old Sub gets a special long birthday bath today! Keep well! IMG_2291.jpg |

This is the essence of Rolex. A watch that can last a lifetime, not a contest to see how many you can acquire.

That’s pretty cool. I hope to wear my sub for 25 years. It’s tough to do with everybody posting new watches all the time. Haha

It's great to reflect once in awhile, as it builds a true appreciation for the special things in your life, whether inanimate or not. I surmise that I'm much younger than you, as the longest connection I've had with a watch is about 10 years. To that end, I hope to get to 25 years, and look back on the years fondly.
