I have a decent sized collection but have noticed in recent weeks the quality of modern Rolex production. The watches they have made in the last 5-10 years are absolutely amazing. The SD 43 is like wearing a vault. I have never worn anything so sturdy. I have two COMEX Sea Dwellers and they feel like paper in terms of sturdiness in comparison. The new era of bracelet is the best in the business nad puts some haute horology brands like PP to shame. The Nautilus is like wearing air but their bracelets are weak in comparison. The new Pepsi GMT is as comfortable to wear as any nautilus with the new solid jubilee yet feels solid. It is leaps and bounds above my first Rolex which was a 1675 Pepsi. The Daytona has become a timeless design with evolutional improvements not revolutionary ones. The time keeping of the modern Rolexes is better than my VC or PP’s or my wife’s AP. It is also far superior in every way to my 1965 6240. I did not even include my Exp II’s which are underrated sturdy comfortable and super accurate and legible. If only Rolex would be more customer friendly in terms of access. When I bought my first Rolex around 35 years ago you had the whole menu to choose from and it was easy to be an ongoing customer. Today they have made it very difficult to enjoy the real masterpieces they have created.

Agree with you I have one 5 digit left and I want shot of it. Everyone will probably slander me for this but I really don’t like the AP bracelet-specifically the 15500. I seem to be in the minority but it is nowhere near the smoothness and comfort, and beauty of a Rolex bracelet.

Totally agree on the bracelet sturdiness, feel and finish. I also have an Exp 2 Polar and the bracelet is actually the most comfortable of all of my sports watches, even over the 12 series sub bracelet.

I would echo nearly all of your sentiments. There is a real charm to some of the vintage pieces I have seen but whenever I have tried them on I can’t shake the feeling of being underwhelmed. There is a robust beauty in a modern Rolex.
