Is this a fake GMT Master 1675 Case?

I just got this 1675 GMT Master, and I am concerned about the authenticity. From the serial number, it appears to be from 1979. I was told the dial was refinished and the hands may be replacements.

I will take it to an authorized dealer tomorrow for authentication, but, in the meantime, I would like to ask your opinions—perhaps to give me a little peace of mind or to make me worry more until then. Among the photos is one of the case back. I cannot find the photo of the movement, but if the case is fake, then the movement will be too.

I would appreciate any info you could offer.

I would get it authenticated at the Rolex Service Center if you don’t trust the source.

The case, dial, bezel insert and end links are all fake non genuine Rolex - not even close to being genuine. The hands and bracelet are probably fake also but due to the photos, it is hard to say for sure but my best guess would be the complete watch is junk. I wouldn't waste an authorized dealer's time with that watch.

Based on some of the AD responses that I have seen in threads here before, most sales personnel at ADs are not anywhere close to being capable of identifying genuine vintage Rolex from aftermarket or fake watches/parts. Just return it and be done with it.

Serial number engraving ain't right. I suspect fake all around.

The serial number on my 6263 happens to be pretty close. Look at the comparison, with authentic on the left, and the OP's watch on the right. In addition to the differences in the numbers, note the long middle strokes on the "E's" in "Stainless" and "Steel" on the OP's watch. That's a giveaway. Legit Rolex engravings have a shorter middle stroke on the "E's", as seen on the left.

The refinished dial would have been reason enough not to pursue this example

Looks horrible, just like someone tried to fast-age the case flanks with a file and screwdriver.

Even Rolex on the dial is not lined up as it should be. The gab between the O and L is too big. Sorry man, this one is a fake.

Thank all of you for your feedback. I had a strong suspicion of this.
Thankfully, I should not have a problem returning it.

Where are you located and where did you get the watch?

Why buy and then check?
Also, your AD will be of little help. I’m sure they are great people, but it’s just not worth your time or theirs.
