Trade a 16622 for a 116900
Good evening! I’m currently considering trading my 16622 YM for a 116900 AK. I’m torn on the matter. Both watches fly under the radar I suppose.
The YM has the more premium materials. But the AK has the green and yellow text and a quirkier design as well as the easy link. I’ve also heard that the Air King wears a bit bulky. So what do you guys think? Which do prefer? Thanks for your input. Last edited by Rexadam77; 30 March 2021 at 09:39 AM.. Reason: Added a question |

Although I do like the originality and funkiness of the Air King quite a bit personally, I think out of the two I would keep the Yacht Master. I haven’t owned either but from the outside looking in the YM seems like a better all rounder.

No, a date watch with a timing bezel for a no date watch and a busy dial.
No go. |

Me personally, I wouldn’t do it. I can’t stand arabic numbers on a dial, but to each their own.

im a big fan of the air king its very unique the green text and yellow crown really pop out of the dial.
its obviously caught your attention as a watch you like anyway so why not. 5/6 digit model is a huge difference in feel aswell especially the bracelet is so much better made. |

I would keep the 16622.
I actually like the original PT sparkling dial quite a lot. It's a keeper for me. |

Love the YM and it’s really coming into its own lately. Sorry but the AK dial is busy and incoherent, to me anyway. Keep your YM.

I’ve owned the Air-King (see avatar). The Air-King is unnecessarily heavy.

The YM 16622 is the epitome of restrained elegance in a sports watch with an interesting little twist: a shimmering dial under the sunlight. To me it encapsulates the notion of sport-chic like very few other watches do. I own its successor ref 116622 pt dial and I love it. Once in a while I admit I need something a bit more exuberant, but sooner or later I fall back on the YM, which has been by far the most worn watch of my humble collection. The YM has its pros and cons, its fans and detractors, but your “Rolesium” is the first Rolex watch to offer a mix of similar looking metals, steel and platinum, which makes it super cool IMHO. It was an evolution from the very first yellow gold YM and a great take at an understated yet more luxurious alternative to the Submariner, such an interesting mix of attributes. I’m a big fan as you might have guessed.
The Air-King 116900 on the other hand is the opposite in many ways. You go from a minimalist dial to a crowded one covered with numerals. You also lose a rotating bezel and date function in the process. This AK is an acquired taste. If you like it though, go for it! |

I would not make that trade. I like the looks and functionality of the YM over the AK.

No, the 16622 is still a hugely underrated/undervalued/under-the-radar watch. I'll never get rid of mine- even if I get the 126622.
