First Post and a question
I just bought a pre-owned submariner with date setting as a gift for my husband from Overstock.com. He will not be getting it for a few months. I have it safely hidden. The question that I have is: Is it okay to leave it in the box, untouched, unwound, not set for two months? When it came in the mail, the second hand was sweeping, but it has since stopped. I'm concerned that I may cause damage to the watch. Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks for the quick reply. The insurane appraisal that came with it, is about $250.00 less than I paid for it. Should I feel like I got duped? I felt like I got a good deal, but now I am concerend.

Without knowing what you paid for the watch, what year it is, and what model it is specifically, can't really tell you for sure one way or the other. To replace any Submariner Date (base model is the 16610, stainless steel) would cost 6,000 USD. You may want to see if you can't get replacement cost on the insurance, which would be 6k.

You should probably insure it sooner rather than later, just in case.

Seems reasonable to me.
Insurance values these thing based on an average condition for the age. If a watch is in very good condition it will fetch much more that insurance values. |
