What color dial to go with a grey day wheel for 1803?

Back to the experts for more information related to my search for a Day-Date 1803. It's been a hard search for the language day wheel I want, and I was just offered a grey day wheel in the language. Now I would need to find the right watch to put the wheel in! What color dial would you recommend with a grey day wheel? I can't seem to find examples online, although for sure grey and white online can look the same.

And I would love to see photos of any Day-Date with a grey day wheel in any language.

I don’t know that I’ve seen a gray day wheel, but as you note, they may just look white in photos. Presumably it would go on a slate, silver, gray/taupe or similar dial, perhaps one like this WB 1802. If you can inspect the wheel in person, maybe it is light enough to use with a silver dial?

I agree with Master Clay. Generally spoken if you like the day wheel to be a center of attention (e.g. because of the special language) team a darker wheel like gray with a lighter dial - and vice versa with a darker dial whereas you might want to match wheel and dial equally, then it's the reverse. And that's probably the norm like suggested by Master Clay. I've seen contrasts too like a golden/yellow wheel with a slate/silver dial, but it probably looked good only because it matched the reference which was a 18129 Tridor. Good luck with your beautiful DD!
