Does the 300M wear like a Speedmaster on a small wrist?

Hi -

In my endless dithering about what to buy next (I’ve been waiting for the W&W releases this week) I’d been locking more and more into a Seamaster 300M ( leaning blue over white ).

However, I got stopped cold by a few people talking about it wearing too big for sub 7” wrists. I have a 6.8” very flat wrist that easily wears a Speedy Pro and a Rolex Sub, the latter with room to spare. ( My wrist goes up to around 7” when it is warm ).

For those of you that own both, will the Seamaster 300M wear like my Speedy Pro?

Since I still can’t go into a jeweler, I need to rely on you guys!

Thanks!

I have one and i feel that it wears ok on my small wrist. The quality of the dial is mesmerising. For me, the important thing is that the lugs don’t extend beyond my wrist, since the lug to lug is about 50mm, it should work fine on your wrist too.

I'd say it wears a touch larger than the old speedy pro, but both on rubber and bracelet, it feels/looks great on my 6.7" wrist. I'll see if I have any pics on my phone for a reference.

Three a speedy and sub pic in for comparisons sake - I couldn’t find a nondistorted mirror pic, but it should give you an idea.

Man this kinda makes me miss my moon watch...

Thanks Jimmy! Those are perfect. The way the Sub and Speedy wear on your wrist looks a lot like mine, so that is super helpful.

Jeez - I miss the old days when driving over to an AD didn’t involve so much angst.

BTW: I can never leave a series of pictures like that without asking the question w/no answer: 300M - White? or Blue?

The blue photographs well and is the iconic smp-the white is one of the most legible watches ever. It’s like omega took the moon watch concept and inverted the color scheme and put it on the seamaster...I’m not sure there’s a wrong answer, but I think we see less of the blue, at least on the forums.

Honestly, the grey dial has been kinda calling me.

If I had to pick just one and didn’t have the of ym, it’d be black and Sedna on rubber.

What else is in your collection?

I’ve got the same sized flat wrist and my 300m wears perfectly! Rubber definitely gives it a smaller profile IMO.

Thanks! I feel like we’re the forgotten size! Just smaller than 7, but 6.5 is a long way away!

7” flat wrist and fits perfect.

The bracelet definitely adds some overall wrist presence with the added weight while the rubber strap makes it melt away. I like going back and forth for variety, especially when doing sporty stuff.

Either way at 6.8” you’ll be well within the range for this to fit well.

My vote, when asked which color way is beat, is always white as most of us are coming from a world of black & blue dial divers, so why not mix it up!

It’s not just the diameter to consider but also the height of the watch. I personally think it wears considerably larger than the Speedmaster

I think the Seamaster 300 will work well on your wrist. Most times it is about bracelet adjustment or which strap you wear certain watches with. I am a huge Seamaster fan and currently own both the black and the blue. I wear the black on a rubber strap 3x's as much as the blue and it is one of my go to watches. Depending on what else you own I would go white dial and pick up the strap as an option.

The SMP is not a thick watch. 13.5mm is less than 1 mm thicker than a Sub and it sits nice and flat on the wrist. However I do agree that the SMP wears "true" to its stated diameter of 42 mm. To me it's a 42mm watch that wears like a 42 mm watch which is closet to perfect for me. For smaller wrists maybe not. Lug-to-lug <50 mm. I think it works well for most people.

The Speedmaster wears more like a 39-40mm watch. The dial including bezel are less than 40mm so the stated case size is deceiving. Agree that the Seamaster wears larger than the Speedy. Got rid of my moonwatch partially because it wore smaller than I liked.

I think it works for 6.5 wrist but it covers my entire top side. I also feel white is out as white dials always “appear” larger.

I prefer my watches on a bracelet, but for some reason I like the Seamaster 300 look on the rubber strap. Looking at the black dial two-tone Sedna version on rubber.

And weight. The seeeeamaster is heavy.

I sold mine and replaced it with a BB58, no regrets.

I still have my Speedmaster, love it!

The SMP wears larger than the Speedmaster but it’s not night and day. In fact, I think it wears great and is much more interesting than the standard speedmaster. The normal Speedmaster looks great on IG but bland in person. JMO. Yes, I said it.

I think the deeper black dial of the new Speedmaster is anything but bland. I can't stop looking at it (in person).

6.75 inch wrist here ... speedy on bracelet is too big for me but works on other straps. Rolex subC is great on my wrist. Seamaster 300M wears larger than the others overall but better than Speedy on bracelet due to end links. On rubber seamaster wears a little smaller but it is still a heavy and thick watch. I own all 3 and have been thinking about trading the seamaster . Have a BB58 which I enjoy much more as well.

I do much prefer the new version of the speedy. The dial is very nice but I still flipped it quickly. I acknowledge that I’m in the extreme minority with that watch. I still respect it! Just love dive watches the most followed by GMTs and other chronographs with some color.

I think the Seamaster wears much better than the old Speedy. I could never wear the old speedy because the middle section of the endlink would hang over the edge of my 6.7" wrist.

Here's a shot of my SMP 300:

Does the 300M wear like a Speedmaster on a small wrist?

I have a Submariner and a Speedmaster on leather strap. I’m thinking about getting a blue dial 300 SMP. I’ve tried one on numerous times. It definitely wears bigger than both of these. That’s for sure. Btw, I have 7.25” wrists.
