Offered a new Daytona!

Hi All,

I am travelling abroad in due course so I contacted an AD at the destination country with a view to obtaining a Daytona.

I've recieved an email earlier today confirming they will be able to supply one which seemed great but it now has gone South as the AD have confirmed they want a 50% deposit (despite me not yet arriving in the country).

Certainly seemed odd that the AD wanted the deposit wire transfered into his personal bank account............................

Personally would not pay 50% deposit on anything.

I’d pass on that one, especially the 50% part.

When you arrive, stop by and tell them who you are and you’re ready to buy. Let us know how that goes.

Could also be using that 50% deposit as a market adjustment and you pay the retail price in store.

well I would strongly suggest it is. I sent him the request in letter format. For all I know the letter could have been intercepted and someone is posing as the AD. I will drop in there in person but there is no way whatsoever I am going to wire 50% deposit in advance

What I was surprised about was the blatant offer, I really believe my letter was intercepted and to further raise my suspicion it took around 6 weeks to reply to my letter

Paul Thorpe has recently documented this scam, scammers posing as ADs.

I would not send anything unless you have dealt with this rep before or can call the store and confirm the details at least.

Odd story. Do you know this particular AD? If not and they claimed to have a Daytona for you, then that’s the only red flag that’s needed.

Ask for photos of the serial number. Ask then to take a photo of the watch set to 4:53pm. I don’t think you will get your photos.

I only know them in that I wrote to them (and they or allegedly they) responded via email. Im never going to part with half the price of a Daytona in advance from abroad it just aint happening
