On waitlist for 3 years and got a 40mm Sub.
I have been on the magical "waitlist" for almost 3 years for a black Submariner Date with this AD. When the new 41mm arrived last year, they told me they will migrate all existing people on the list to the 41mm.
However, this wasn't the case. I called again at the beginning of this year, they said they will get me a 40mm because they do still receive them. When I inquire about the 41mm since supposedly everyone has been moved to the new 41mm list, they told me 41mm actually has a "new list" now, and many are already on that list. If I want to join that list, I would start at the bottom. This month, I got the call that my 40mm black Submariner Date is here. I picked it up and now I have a 116610LN with a warranty card dated April 2021. I would say the purchase experience with this AD is pretty disappointing. It is known that this AD bundles the hot Rolex models. The reason why I am on the waitlist for 3 years is because people who were willing to bundling got in front of people who didn't. Also, they didn't move people on waitlist to the 41mm as promised. Still, I believe that the 41mm waitlist talk is BS. My guess is they don't want people on the 40mm list to get the 41mm because they can bundle 41mm with other products, and people who want to bundle a black Sub Date would never want the older version. So, 40mm will just be allocated to people who didn't want to bundle and on the waitlist. |

Congratulations! Sorry to hear about your experience. Hindsight is 20/20 but I would take this as a learning experience and likely work with multiple ADs to increase your odds of finding an honest one. Despite what some pessimistic members may say, there are honest ADs out there.

There is no list. They get the “hot” models in every shipment and the owners decide who to sell them too. The better a customer you are the more they will cater to you. It’s that simple.
If you got a Sub with zero purchase history..... you did amazing. You also got a discontinued reference new from the AD. That’s a huge win. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just part exchange it at a grey dealer if you prefer the new one, shouldn’t cost you too much.

I wonder where your AD gets their watches from, never heard of 40mm subs still shipping in 2021....

Got on the list for a 40mm sub. Delivered a 40mm sub. Think they did alright even if it was a bit misleading, they probably bungled that internally. Can't blame them if they still are getting shipments of the old one which they need to find homes for. Congrats!

I find it surprising that Rolex are still shipping a watch discontinued in September last year 6 months later. Seems odd to me, especially as the new sub came straight out in September as originally it was supposed to be released months earlier but cancelled due to the virus. So logic would tell me that the 40mm subs had stopped being made a long time back.
I wonder if your AD has had it in their safe for 6 months and only now decided to sell it? Either that or it somehow got passed over/temporarily forgotten about? |

You just got a highly coveted Rolex model - one that's very recently discontinued - with a 5-year warranty card whose time just now started.
This is - in my opinion- all kinds of WIN !

Wow. I sure hope they at least used some lube! Maybe bought you a drink at least? Not a pretty story.

I would flip for the 41mm. Certainly the AD can't be mad about that...

Congrats but wow 3 years and you got a disappointing experience. Was it worth it? If you don't get your watch within a few months just go grey.
I love how everyone said that there's no discernable difference with the 40 vs. 41 and now everyone's raving about the 41 lmao. Thick ol' clasp. |

Just take it to a grey and swap it for the 41mm. You just can't satisfy some people.
