Precision Addiction

When changing a watch to wear, any of you precision addicted folks (like me) ever get so focused on starting the watch precisely when the atomic or quartz clock hits 60 seconds, that you discover the hour and/or minute hand on your watch has been set wrong?! Ha! Happened to me the other day; rather embarrassing.
Must remember to view the whole picture.

Yes. I’m right there with you. Sometimes I’ll set the time, engage the movement, and then do it all again after realizing I started things a fraction of a second too early/late. It’s a real sickness. ;-)

Yep. I've even 'restarted' the process if let's say I didn't hack the seconds hand right on 60 and wait other round to set the time. Crazy. Haha. Sounds like i'm not alone.
At the moment, my Speedy is the only watch I have that doesn't have a hacking seconds which I can live with...but if I'm looking at some truly high end watches (ahem, ahem, cough, Patek), it boggles my mind that some ref's don't have this feature.
Don't get me wrong, I get the whole vibe and idea (technical and the romantic) of a non-hacking movement and it wouldn't necessarily keep me from buying one but definitely something I take into consideration.

Now that I think about it, is there anything out there that has a manual wind, zero set seconds hand feature, and a power reserve?????

You can actually "backpedal" to hack the speedy, but the small second hand is so hard to read accurately why bother? It's actually rather refreshing; don't worry about things you can't correct. Probably my most used tool watch is a Tissot T-Touch (quartz), and it has no second hand - never miss it.

No, I focus on the clocking of the minute and seconds hand mostly since any misalignment annoys me. Atomic start time has no value to me. I track the watch against atomic time but the offset doesn't matter to me.

Oh yeah, I know how to “hack” the speedy...again, no real concern over it. Just a preference. I bought the speedy knowing full well of the non hacking seconds...still love it.

This.

If the minute and second hands are misaligned, it dives me absolutely nuts.

Same..I want the minute marker to split the hand exactly in half when the second hand is exactly at 12. I could care less if this is +/- 30s from actual time

I have been known to do that in the past by setting it 5 or 10 minutes off...

I like to get the thing started exactly at the 0 seconds.
But after that I care not to keep it "on time" for however many weeks or months it is worn.
Weird.

I sync my watches precisely at 60 secs. faster than my iphone clock. It will be handy if Rolex introduces the zero reset seconds hand so I don't have to wait for the seconds hand to reach zero to pull the crown.

Recently obsessed with getting the minute hand to hit the marker when the seconds hand hits 12!

Don't know about you guys, but getting this right on a 14060m is almost impossible.

I do set the watch precisely when it has stopped or is off significantly. I will wear watches that are off with the time but not by much.

I admit to having a precision addiction. I'll rest my watches if the minute hand doesn't split the marker when the second hand hits 12 o'clock. Just reset my 14060M and it's looking good!

I personally enjoy setting it to the exact second off an atomic clock when winding up a watch. Part of the fun for me imo.

I've mis-set the minute hand but never the hour hand. Set the second hand exactly at 60 on my iPhone.
