Will GMT Master's case size increase to 41MM eventually?

Rolex just released a oyster bracelets for 126710s but do you guys think that GMT will follow submariner's path eventually in future?

Yes, at least proportions will follow the new sub design. With those proportions a 41mm will still wears like a 40. Can’t wait to see it happen, I’d buy one in a heartbeat.

My guess is no. I’m probably wrong.

GMT - 40
Sub - 41
Explorer 2 - 42

So there’s a reason to “get them all.” (Ignoring budgetary concerns lol.)

I think it will follow the 41mm sub with an even slimmer lugs and slightly increased diameter.

I am sure that extra 1mm perhaps 1.5mm is going to make a huge difference I dont think.

The "old" 40mm Sub was actually 40.2mm and the "new" 41mm is actually 40.5mm.

The story isn't told by the "size", it isn't really bigger in any discernable way. Its the proportions that make it different...wider bracelet, slimmer and more sculpted lugs, etc.

I have no idea if the GMT will follow suit and am not ever planning to buy one but I think it's almost not even news if the changes are as small as the ones introduced on the Sub.

Doubtful...the silhouette of the case is already streamlined like that of the new Submariner.

Additionally, the introduction of both bracelet options only reaffirms Rolex's content with the current GMT as a long run production model.

1,000x this. The BLRO/recent BLNR are perfect examples of what they should've done with the sub. Just taper the lugs a bit more and drop in a new movement. Done and done.

Really hope they don't start messing with 12 other minutiae to accomplish what the GMTs already have.

From a manufacturing and supply perspective I can't wrap my head around it either. Simple machining change to taper the lugs. They did it with the SD4K too...easy peasy. But no, chasing 0.5mm difference in lug profile let's add a new bracelet, clasp, case, case back, crystal, etc. to the supply chain.

For comparison:

Great picture...the blue on the BLNR's bezel is exceptional.

I would think if they intended to change it up anytime soon they would have done so before reintroducing the Oyster.

Up until 4/7/21, I would have said yes.

Now, considering the unpredictable Exp to 36mm, I would say somewhere between probably and maybe.

One thing no one has yet mentioned is that the new sub isn't even remotely a 1mm increase. It's JUST .3mm -- so whether or not the GMTs increase to "41mm" we're talking about a negligible .3mm anyways... it is a non-matter either way.
