Everything is almost a impossible if you are totally new to the shop / BT / AP house

If we think about how the VC 4500V demand has increased over this past 15 months, (or any SS Rolex), one should not be surprised at any RO supply.

LOL you reminded me that I made a post about the grey vs blue dial last year. I did not get the grey dial because the AP Sales was saying I have a chance at blue. I told her that I don't mind getting the Grey if there is no chance for the blue but she told me that I have a chance so let's wait, and I kept saying that just give me the grey once the blue becomes impossible.......so now both dials become impossible

You must not have gone into an AP boutique for over a year if you only notice now.

I’ve been in a bunker for a year. Is the world still spinning?

white/grey now go for 32k+ brand new, so it hasn't just started. might start to get worse fast because as mentioned in another thread, this size is a better fit for more people

If I recall, people advised you to buy the grey dial then if you liked it, as you would probably be able to at least break even on it if/when you ever got the call for the blue dial, and you’d establish yourself as a boutique customer. In hindsight, that would have worked out well for you.

But if it’s a total surprise to you now that all SS Royal Oaks are difficult to obtain, then you haven’t really kept in touch (occasional SMS/WhatsApp don’t count).

I did the impossible last week. Walked out with a grey one. I told the SA that I like the white, she brought out a grey one. Then she told me I can get one RO/year from now on.

Can I ask what city? How long were you waiting? I've been on list for about 5 months for a white or grey.

I was going to buy the grey dial in grey market, it was almost at retail price, maybe 5% premium at that time. I was never offered a grey dial by the BT. In hindsight I should not have believed the AP sales and think I actually have a chance at the blue dial, just looking at the Grey Market price alone (maybe there is a better chance in Europe or US, definitely no chance in HK).

Honestly i doubt that strategy (visiting frequently) woulda work in hk. I think they all only look at purchase history. I haven't heard stories in HK that people buy a hot model because they visit the BT enough, it is all down to their purchase history.

I highly doubt a grey RO qualifies you for a blue RO next...probably doable with a ROO or Code in between

First time visiting. I’ve never called or emailed them before. Really hit it off with SA. She asked what I wanted to see then somehow we talked about couple hours mainly not about watches at all. She then basically asked for my DL. went to the back for 10mins., I was sitting there thinking she might put me on the list. She came out and said why didn’t I tell her I own my business. Showed me the watch and said the manager okayed the deal. He then came from outside with box and papers, sized my watch. I paid then she helped me set up my AP account, extend warranty and all that. Took about 2.5 to 3 hours. I missed my tee time, but it’s totally worth it.

So I think they googled me and found some info. We talked for awhile, she probably knows I’m not a reseller and like the watch. Pure dumb luck.

I mean good for you but you talked to a random SA for a couple hours and missed your tee time? Jesus, are you getting married or found a lifelong friend? Almost jealous, I feel like I should be nicer to people.

You should. People are nice. I used to be a sushi chef for 15years, making small talk or real talk to people is my second nature. Also I can play golf any day, got RO at retail and a friend maybe not. People are in the wait list for 2 months, 5 months. I basically wait one afternoon.
