“Run down to Gearys and get me a stainless Rolex!” - Times have changed.

Just came across this fun video clip and article on Time+Tide:

https://timeandtidewatches.com/watch...ene-entourage/

I thought you guys would enjoy this clip! I was just in BH this weekend to do some shopping. Didn’t bother visiting Gearys as I figured they wouldn’t have anything on display.

Beautiful daytona, but to OPs point it’s not SS. Those days are long gone unfortunately.

He’s based on a real guy, who, I guarantee you, could send his assistant down to Geary’s for any stainless watch on premises.

Yep, Ari Emanuel. I suspect you are correct, based on who he knows, he gets anything he wants.

I hear you. I would have started with a platinum DD40 ice-blue dial and a full YG SkyD with champagne dial and be done with it.

It’s a ton of cash! I need a few more years in tech before i can make that type of move. Boy oh boy is it awesome though. Thinking of it, i don’t have a huge issue wearing a small SUV on my wrist, but actually swiping the card for it is another story. I don’t know that i could do it.

I've never watched that show, and not familiar with it or any of the characters. However, I did enjoy that clip! Thanks for posting. I'm sure if this was real life, it would be that easy. They would definitely bring out the SS watches for a guy of that caliber. He probably would have bought many high dollar pieces from them already.

I stopped into Gearys a couple of years ago for the first time ever. Nice showroom and was also impressed with their Patek section. Talking to the SA, they expectedly had no SS sports models in stock. As I was browsing around, a younger guy (or kid actually) walked into the store with a couple of friends. All were dressed down with ripped jeans, some sort of branded t-shirts, gold/diamond necklaces, gold/diamond bracelets and PM Rolex watches on their wrists. One had an iced out version of a gold Sub in which I think he was the main guy. Must have been some sort of big YouTuber, social media star or maybe an actor or musician. The people at the AD obviously knew who he was. More than one SA came up to him at that moment and welcomed him back with smiles. They started talking about watches and new pieces that they had available in which he might be interested in. The main kid asked about some sort of special order piece and if it had arrived already, but they told him that it hasn't come in yet. I am thinking that Gearys would definitely treat this guy in the clip like the young guy I saw, and give him what he wanted!

It’s a bit of a head game IMHO.

Yes it’s a lot of money, but will it bring you more happiness than the steel version, or the gold version? Perhaps it will, or maybe it won’t.

About 6-8 months ago, my wife and I stopped by Geary's to have our watches quick cleaned and to say hi to our sales person. They've sold us 3 watches over the last few years. Anyway, they showed me an SS Daytona and asked if I was interested (they knew I wouldn't re-sale). I declined because I already have another brand chronograph and am not interested in wading into the "flipper" sphere. I know it sounds goofy to some...

I posted a while back in this thread that i assumed Ari the real guy what’s whatever he wants. After watching the hodinkee interview with Ed Sheeran, it seems like patek has even celebs waiting for super hot pieces.

He mentioned waiting a few years for a Tiffany 5711. Granted, that’s a crazy hot piece (Tiffany stamped 5711 mind you, not that new Tiffany color 5711).
