<<< slga 001 >>>

Good day all.

Simple enough question ... are there any SLGA001 owners out there?

Please share your pictures and tell me a bit about how the watch wears for you.

Thanks

11K is pricey for a non-Rolex. Looks like a fine watch.

Hey Lee hope all is well. Curious, what would be a reasonable price for a non-Rolex with those specs?

Considering the amount one pays for brand equity with a Rolex I’d say 5-7k. I think it should be less than a sub.

I dream of the day GS releases a clean no date diver in 40mm. If ever.

the zero zero one has an amazing caliber... really it has.
I do have a difficult time thinking about adding it to my collection with that typical Seiko Clasp stamped clasp... specially considering the price point and lack of any precious metals.

it definitely is a beautiful watch.

the piece reminds me of the difficulty GS had with the magnificent two five five and two five seven hi-beat DIVE watches with their Hobnail dials and precious metal indicies... the pieces just didn't sell that well at that same MSRP price point.

once you begin to break that 9000-10,000$ price point, the competition really gets tough and I think seiko needs to step up their game in terms of bracelet and clasp.

Agreed, watches are spectacular but the bracelets have room for improvement. I try to use Rolex bands whenever they fit.. or leather.

I'd love to see it in real life- I like Seiko's clever titanium finishing, the movement sounds like a winner...but not sure about the heavily facetted case. While it looks the epitome of "rugged diver" it seems a bit inelegant, the same reason for which I ditched my AP diver, just "too much". And it is spendy...

I wish they'd make a diver in a case similar to the elegant SBGE001/201 case- rework the sapphire 24 hour bezel into a 60 min dive bezel, ( without going too Fifty fathoms...) That I would jump on.

tried one on a few months ago. looks nice, seems like a great movement. everyone says GS wears smaller but it's still a chunky watch

It's my favorite watch these days.

Many complain about its size. Admittedly it's large but you don't feel the weight at all given its materials.

What do I love about it?
  • No one else has one. I'm always wearing a "one-of-a-kind" wherever I am.
  • It's amazing to look at. Angles galore, reflections at unexpected angles, and beautiful colors with just a flash of red on the power reserve
  • The accuracy. I'm only gaining a few seconds per month. It's an amazing machine and every time I look at it I think about just how uniquely precise it is for a "mechanical" watch.

Many will say that at that price a Seadweller would be the better choice. I'm not convinced. Yes! The SD will hold value. I get it... but every time I looked at it or tried it on I couldn't help thinking of it as an oversized sub. I have a Sub (Hulk) and would probably buy the SD if I didn't.

I can tell you that I've never been more excited to pick up a watch than when I went to pick up the SLGA 001. I bought it new at a GS dealer in February. I wore it sparingly for the first 2 months but It's been the only watch on my wrist since the middle of May.

DSW has one for about 9.5... that's a decent price.

I love mine. Very comfortable and lot of nice details. It is a very masculine piece with its size and many sharp angles and facets.

Similar reasons to why I like GS, 99% of my friends are in Patek and Rolex, I want to wear something different.

it's probably the most advanced Movement in this modern era... even amongst spring drive pieces.
fully regulated and thermally compensating electro-mechanical movement.
