Tiffany stamped: How to get one

I’ve tried three times to inquire about getting a Tiffany stamped Patek. No one calls me back. I called LA, NYC (flagship) and Atlanta. Are these just for walk-in, known customers? And no, Not asking for an Aquanaut or Nautilus.

Anyone share some insight?

Contact Tiffany San Francisco and ask for Alex. He is extremely knowledgeable and a watch collector himself.

If only I’d known in 2005 what I knew today...

Walked in to Tiffany in San Diego area. In display was a Tiffany stamped Nautilus. I wanted a stainless PP but remember thinking to myself: “Pressure fitted case back? No screw locked crown? That corny ‘Tiffany’ stamp? No thanks, I’ll hold out for a 5065 (which I found a month or two later).”

A few days ago, Tiffany SF only had a single Tiffany stamped PP, and it was a ladies model (dont remember the exact reference). Alex was great to talk to though, although it was fairly clear that any men’s model that would come in would already be spoken for by existing clients.

How do you become an existing customer if every Tiffany stamped Patek is spoken for? or do they care alot about the extremely overpriced Tiffany jewelry too?

I was told at the Tiffany SF store that they will consider me a "good" customer if I spend $500000 in the store. The impression I got is for jewelry.

And at the time (which was about August 2020), I was looking for a 7118/1A which was not even a "hot" item.

NYC usually has a few pieces available for purchase. Not sure that they ship to new customers though.

The Tiffany store in honolulu had a pretty good selection of ladies models but only a couple of men's ones.

Atlanta quit carrying them a while ago. They are down to 4 locations. From the Tiffany website:

The brand’s renowned watches are now available at the following Tiffany locations:

New York, Fifth Avenue

Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive

Honolulu, Royal Hawaiian Center

San Franciso, Post Street

Ask for Albert at the European Watch Company in Boston. He has access to various Tif stamped pieces including Naut and Aqua.

Upto very recently, i believe Tiffany website had the prices advertised of the available pieces. i believe 5196 and perhaps a 5227 were available

There were several other Pateks available without a Tiffany stamp, although all were also ladies models. But yes, combination of both Patek and Tiffany purchases is what you would have to do.

This is a really good suggestion. I will give this a try. I called the NYC store again spoke to “Jesse” who got all my info and said that they will call me or email and crickets.

I don’t mind if these stamped PP are for existing clients, I’d just wish they would tell me so I can move on.

I will also try Hawaii. I appreciate everyone’s comments. The reason I love this forum.

I have yet to see a non-vintage PP where the Tiffany logo does not look like an afterthought.

Why would you want one?

Tiffany stamped PP aren't for clients only unless you are asking for Nautiluses, Aquanauts, and other rare models. I saw quite a few men's and women's pieces when I was there the last time. Their inventory depends on PP allocations and shipments, so sometimes they have more and sometimes less. You see, Alex is a Patek Philippe specialist and that is all he does. I have been in the retail business for over 30 years and Alex is top notch.

got the same statement a year or so ago. but alex told me it's actually better if you spent it on watches but of course the jewelry department "makes it happen for you" if you spent it on jewelry.

Apparently, buying more watches would make it easier to acquire true application pieces such as minute repeaters - I left the store feeling poor :)

Don't bother.

Everyone else has ruined it for true collectors by speculating and flipping.

Just look at how many are out there on Chrono24 (it should be nearly impossible to find any, and it's no longer the case).

After I spend $500000, I don’t think I can afford a minute repeater anymore

Of course, that's how it should be: Any schmuck with $30,000 should be able to walk out with either stainless "starter" Patek model, with only the big collectors (i.e. spenders) getting the attention needed to acquire the truly exceptional pieces.

Then again, I got mine when they were less than 1/3 that, so I don't even qualify as "any schmuck" these days :(.

It wouldn't be Tiffany stamped anyway.

Thanks for the input. I haven’t yet but will do to further research. However, if these prices are much higher just because the stamp, I’ll pass and move on.

Robine, fair question. My wife and I have an anniversary. She is dead set on getting new wedding rings at Tiffany’s (she has always wanted a set) and I wish to mark this important event with a stamped 6119R. I know it is a new watch and popular for its introduction, at least for now.

As an aspiring Patek collector, my first PP is the 5168g which I adore and it’s a large modern Patek. I thought it fitting to retrace back to the foundation with a Calatrava. Plus, for me, it is a stunning watch.

But, again, not digging this round around.

Have you actually seen a Tiffany 6119? I ask because I think that an additional line of text on the dial seems too busy for me. The dial is already fairly complex, compared to others in the lineup (lots of markings) so wouldn't personally be a fan of anything else.

You could also always PM this guy and ask what he went through to get his:

https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=804833

FWIW, doesn't look like he'd have had a big Tiffany-Patek spend history (since he references it being his first PP, but maybe a big jewelry buyer).

I think that watch will have better availability in the coming months. Most of my PP are T stamped, but for my 6119R I actually went non-stamped to keep the dial clean.

OP - I get your story. Why does the Cala need to be bought at T? You already bought your wedding rings there, which, if clichées are clichées, is "the" thing to do in the U.S., thanks to popular culture.

With a bit of a wider perspective, the whole T thing does not have such much of a cachet elsewhere. PPs were/are sold and many prestigeous dealers who then also co-brand the dials, e.g. Beyer, Gübelin, Gondolo, Gobbi, Serpico and others.

If your mind is set to go for jumping though various hoops of humiliation in order to buy a fairly entry-level watch with free advertising on the dial for the seller, do it. It will have a lot of anecdotal value at the sports bar.

I would rather suggest buying it in Geneva, if you are really looking for making it an event rather than a plain purchase transaction. Tiffany do not build the watch, they just paint their logo on it.
