Is it difficult to buy a Full Gold Daytona?

Despite the YG green dial version, a true unicorn, do you find it is hard to get a full gold daytona in your country/region?

Here in LA all Daytonas are hard to get. TT is the easiest. Full PMs are somewhere in the middle (minus the blue and green dials). Oyster flex next, followed by platinum, and then SS.

From where I am (Portugal / Europe) it is not difficult, in one month Rolex will get you the dial and gold you want (not green or platinum though)

Interesting! I often have to go to Lisbon and started going to Torres on Liberdade.

I wonder if they would sell to a frequent flyer but not local.

It's not difficult at all. However what you have to pay for it might present a problem.

ANY Daytona is virtually impossible to get from an AD in California.

True that; easy to get on the grey market.

It was where I bought mine, Rolex at Avenida da Liberdade in Lisbon. Went there 3 times and saw 3 different RG daytonas within a month, then I bought mine with chocolate dial. Not sure if they only showed me them since I have bought a rose gold / steel date just less than a year...

I have been first (for 2 years) on the list as in “my name is on the next incoming” YG Daytona green dial. I am in a medium size American city (3 million population in the region) and this AD has never actually had this watch to sell. Recently this AD, which is a really nice store with great people and a very smart owner announced to me they had lost their Rolex franchise. They do however have another store in a nearby store an hour away and I have been informed I’m still on this list. Seems really doubtful I will ever see this watch so I’m trying to figure out what to do next.

Ms Coriel, if you find this watch, or possibly the new one with the meteorite dial, please see if they have a second one as well

The YG green dial daytona is also impossible to get in Portugal, meteorite dial wasn't received yet according to AD

I think it really depends on your AD.

My wg blue dial was offered to me on a walk in to an AD I use regularly on holiday (in the UK)

My local AD in the UK
My green dial yg dayona took 5-6 months in 2019

The wg steel dial OF took about 4-5 months

But as a new customer, I think these timings are way way off.
So it depends on your AD and relationship really.

Not hard at all. You can get any full gold Daytona tomorrow or even on the day. Just choose a good reputable dealer

Impossible lol what alternative universe are you living in?
We are talking about NOW > June 2021 not last year or 2019 etc when these were not as popular or hyped pieces.
In the UK a full gold Daytona cannot be purchased without healthy buying history at an independant or WofS.

Well on the grey market everything is available for a certain price. I was wondering at rolex stores as I didn’t find hard to get mine, but again I have bought a datejust gold steel less than a year and made a good relationship with AD. Wanted to know if I got lucky

Sounds like luck plays a part in finding some of these watches but sounds like you know what you are doing!

I think in this game we play I would like a hand full of luck way more than a boat load of skill

It is easier than a steel Rolex watch, but still more difficult than ever before. You could buy a gold Daytona at a discount a few years ago. Those days are over for now.

Depending on configuration and location it may not be too difficult. The likelihood of walking in and finding one in any market is not great but if you’re in a mid to small market you could probably get one within a couple of months

At this point, I’m forced to rely on luck only

I was at the Hudson Yard AD last week. Daytona? come on. Total inventory at that store was 17 watches, 2 "mens" - a 36mm bedazzled DJ and a Cellini of some sort. That's it total, no secret safe, no mystery cubby hole. This is the AD next to Watches of Switzerland which currently has a $150,000 1967 Porsche 911 in the showroom.

It's easy from a grey anywhere. Difficult from an AD.

I've been told by my AD that it's very difficult to get one, but if you're a valued customer, it's not impossible - it's just a question of how long to wait.
