I am thinking of buying a pre-owned 'F' series WG Daytona with black dial (see pic below) at a good price but it has some marks on the bezel (see the '120' and between the '65' and '70') and I am trying to determine how noticeable the marks will be. I don't know if it will bother me or not. I also have an option of getting an unworn 'D' series WG Daytona with silver dial.

What do you think? Would the marks on the bezel bother you? Would you get the black or silver dial WG Daytona?

wouldn't bother me if I were going to wear it often--since I might be marking it again anyway. Keeps you from feeling so terrible that first time you scuff a formerly pristine watch.

With my eyes being not 20/20, I'll never be able to tell the time on that one. Go with the one that will put a smile on your face and will be proud of wearing it.

Good point. Plus the black dial is much more attractive IMHO.

Won't be a problem bearing in mind that photo is probably at least 5x mag, when on the wrist to your eye you will never notice it, if you do just get it buffed out.

Knowing that this is probably going to be one of your 'fav' watches... you might be more critical of the flaws... I know I am ! I recently put a couple of light scratches on the clasp of my new Sub Date and I can't stop looking at them! when I show people they look at me and say... are you kidding? you can hardly see them !

Absolutely Stunning Watch and love LOVE! the Black Dial... I'm working towards one day owning the exact same watch, if the price is good go fopr it!

The fact you made a thread about it, means that it will bother you, it would bother me if the marks could not come out, if they can, no worry, I would get the watch.

Blunt but you asked.

Fore something that you will actually wear: It will collect more as you wear it so either get over it and wear this daytona or stay with a timex that you aren't afraid to beat up.

For a safe queen special occasional watch: skip this one, there are better out there so keep looking.

That's a good looking watch............. A couple of swipes with a fiber pencil and they might be gone...

I agree with the others.......if it's a safe queen, skip it, but if you intend to wear it.............get the one you want...

the only thing i have to "live with" is the question that people ask to almost every Rolex owner... Is that real?? i have the 16610 and i know is the watch that has more replicas...

i am biased since i have the silver dial....

as soon as you wear it it will get scratched so dont plan on it being pristine after a day on the wrist

mine gets used in the rotation, no safe queen here

I'd try and find out if Rolex can change the bezel and if so, how much it would cost. If it can be changed to a new one, then I'd factor in this cost and add the cost of servicing as well because I think all Rolex service centers won't simply swap bezels without charging you a servicing fee. Buying brand new theres always that sinking feeling when you get the first little ding or scratch, buying pre-owned however seems more relaxed as the little tell tail marks of use are already there, so it always seems less of an issue to me anyway.

Marks on the bezel are not a bit problem, but dings on the case are a different matter altogether IMHO.

Like what Steve said, the bezel can easily be swapped out but with the WG Daytona at US$24k a pop, I guess the bezel alone would easily go at 5k? ?

If scratches bother you, though, WG might not be the best metal for you--it's softer than ss and more prone to scratches, and the scratches seem to show up more clearly. Just my opinion...

I would take it if it is at or very near the price of a SS Daytona price. The price for a good used one is only a few grand more than SS. The scratch near 120 is not just a scratch. It may require changing the bezel because it looks like a bit of the WG is missing from the picture. But, I'm not a watchmaker.
