RSC vs Rolex AD (in-house service) - Servicing a Rolex in Taiwan
Hi guys,
I am planning to service my Rolex Daytona. I am Located in Taiwan. I know many people insist service must be done at a 'Rolex Service Center' (to ensure quality and higher resell value). I've always had the impression that a 'Rolex Service Center' means shipping your watch back to Geneva, Switzerland. When I went to my local Rolex Authorised Dealer (they sell other watch brand also), they say because they are an 'authorised dealer' therefore no need to sent to Rolex Geneva. They are trained do the service in-house. My questions is does a Rolex AD = RSC? I know the Servicing Invoice my AD provides isn't a 'Rolex invoice' (it will be titled with AD's company name). But when I went to the Official Rolex website to 'find a local service center in Taiwan', my local AD's name does appear. Should I service the watch at my AD? or insist to send watch to Geneva? Anyone in Taiwan who can offer some advice? Thanks in advance for the help! |

No, not all Rolex ADs are designated as RSC. If you have a RSC near you, it’s usually better to service locally.
If you are referring to the one on 敦化南路二段105號、 yeah, it’s legit. |

I'm actually located in Taichung, I was talking about 寶鴻堂。(which was suggested on the Rolex Official website, as a place for service near me) Have you heard of this AD? is it considered RSC since it is listed on the Official website? Or should I go to 敦化南路二段105號 instead? |

Probably recommend the one in Taipei instead! Just a quick HSR ride away |

Did you buy your watch at that particular AD? If yes, then let them service it.
If not or out of warranty, then just go straight to RSC in Taipei. |

I'm not located in Taiwan but I browse on Taiwanese watch forums frequently; as far as I know there are only two official RSCs in Taiwan, one in Taipei the other in Kaohsiung.
I'm located in Malaysia and have sent my watch to the official RSC in Kuala Lumpur, they have their own in-house watch technicians and do not send the watches back to Geneva for services unless it's for very complicated issues or vintage pieces. 寶鴻堂 is a well known Authorized Dealer in Taiwan but they're not official Rolex Service Center. I'm sure they can do a good job servicing your watch, but the invoice and paperwork won't be from Rolex.

The RSC honors warranty and are owned by Rolex SA. AD is a private entrepreneur and as such is more likely to cut corners to maximize profit. My watches go only to the RSC. Their only business is to service Rolex watches.

Will a Rolex service card be provided after the service, even if done in-house?
I'm guessing that would provide some level of comfort as to the level/quality of service works being done. |

In the US, some ADs provide authorized Rolex Service. I recently brought my Daytona to Kern's in Burlingame. They are authorized to do Rolex Service and warranty work, and it comes with the same International Service Warranty if they do the work. Rolex audits their servicing practice yearly, etc. I imagine if they do Rolex warranty work, Rolex reimburses them.
However, when I brought my Daytona in, they had quite a busy schedule, so they sent it to Dallas RSC and it came back great 8 weeks later. |
