Follow Up with SA Advice

Made a deposit on an OP41 and just wanted to know if you think I should follow up with my SA. Been waiting for about a month now and haven't heard anything. They said it would take 3-6 months but the timeline is not certain. Do you think following up would be beneficial?

They told you 3-6 months and it’s only been 1 month, so I don’t see any reason to follow up. If it’s 7 months and you haven’t heard anything, then I would.

Don't become TOO much of a pest or you will tee them off. Give it time.

This. If you really want to check in, I find it better/more natural to drop by in person under the guise that you were in the area and wanted to “say hi”. I can’t imagine calling in to ask for an update on a watch before the estimated delivery. Just seems awkward and I think I would be annoyed if I received that call.

What colour did you order and what’s your spend history like?

Look all ADs are just retail shops that sell watches, and seeing you have made a deposit on a watch ring or drop in store as often as you like.

It's cool that they took a deposit on an OP41.The ADs in my area won't. I waited 10 months for them to find one for me. I bought the Bright Blue. I told them I wanted a Tiffany Blue but they said that could take 3 years.

Or to [gasp!] look at other things in the store!! Unless it's the Rolex Boutique, they probably sell other watches, and looking is always fun if SA isn't busy. Maybe they even have some other Rolexes in back they'd let you see (provided you preface it with: "Would love to see an XXX if you have it, even if already sold, just to get a sense of how it looks in person.").

Guessing it had to be a sunburst, though even for that I'm somewhat surprised they took deposit/order on a 41.

If it makes you feel any better, I personally think you're better off: IMO the 41 is too big for the lacquer dials (save for maybe the green), and those are best suited to the 36/31. So, what kind of wait time would they now quote you for a Tiffany 36 ?

I personally would wait for 3 months then visit them in store, ask how they have been etc. build a good relationship with them and im sure when one does arrive you will be looked upon more favourably when choosing who the piece goes to.

Do you trust your SA? Did they say they’d contact you when it came in? Do you think a visit from you will cause Rolex to ship the watch sooner?

Ask yourself these questions.

No spend history. It’s the bright blue dial.

If you get it in 6 months that would be pretty impressive IMHO.

Most of the folks who have shown pics of them on here look to be pretty established collectors who appear to have strong relations with their AD. Dealers don't appear to get many of these either.

Beautiful watch.

I did put a deposit down and they said they were able to “place an order”. Not sure how true that was, but even with a deposit, do you think I would be in a better position than people who are just on a “waitlist”? They are a pretty big retailer in Los Angeles so I would hope they can fulfill my order sooner. I know the OP in regular colors are attainable from what I heard, but there is still somewhat of a wait.
