51 Hours

For some strange reason I decided to test the power reserve on one of my 1680s.

Anyway, gave it 50 turns, set it down and 51 hours it stopped. Not bad for a 29 year old watch! (well, OK it has been recently serviced )

That's pretty impressive Mike!

I think that Rolex specifies a power reserve of less than 50 hours, so you get some more time for free. Maybe your main spring is a fraction longer or can be wound tighter, I don't know.

Still you can't take your watch off on Friday night and put it back on Monday morning ready for work again without it stopping. Anyway, the weekend is the best time for wearing and enjoying.

You know I was a bit suprised. I know the modern movements are in the mid 40 range. I read some reports of 5513s going around 50 and I got curious.
Humm....maybe I need a life!

51 hours is amazing. Is this a slower beat movment? I managed to get 48 hours from my new Sub...but it has the hi-beat 28,800 A/hr movement as you already know.

28800 Bps its pretty standard now on most modern movements.Hi-beat movements like the Zenith El-Primo use 36000 Bps.
