In hindsight, it’d be my sub and explorer 2. Both have appreciated significantly since I purchased them and enjoy wearing them.
I also enjoy my Speedy, Seamaster, and SOH. Really happy with all those purchases. I do have a couple watches I regret though…. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The 10k I spent on a consolation prize 14060 tritium after missing out on a killer 5513 maxi.
Three days later the guy who got the 5513 decided he wanted to unwind the deal and as a result I got to buy the 5513 since he wanted his trade in 14060 back. Otherwise there were 6 people in line in front of me for the 5513. The 14060 was my ticket to ride.

Surfing the craigslist one day and I see an ad - "One man's, one boy's, and two lady's watches for $25". Looking at the photo (which wasn't great) I recognize the distinctive dial of the man's watch, though it was in pretty rough shape. There were two big cracks in the crystal, as well as a nasty scratch on the back. But the ad said, 'it runs', so I replied. Told him I only had interest in the man's watch, and that I'd give him $15. He agreed and a little while later, we're at the coffee shop by his house. I told him it was a pretty nice watch in its day, and he said he knew, but he had no interest in spending the money to fix it and the wife wanted the desk cleaned out . . . so we made the deal.
It cost about $350 to replace the crystal, get a new stem, and have it serviced, but I've been wearing it regularly ever since.

Alright I'd pick this one. Still original like it left the store in the late eighties.

My bronze Tudor, purchased in celebration, after the third and final,* stent went in. I don't recall the price. I didn't get a discount, didn't really think that was a good time to quibble.
*I hope. |

It was always funny GB my Mom passed the watch on to me when my Dad passed back in ‘83. Not long before she passed, two years ago, I was visiting her and she noticed the watch on my wrist and said, “Oh you’re still wearing Dad’s watch, he loved that watch, I still remember when he came home with it. $235! I wanted to hit him over the head with it!” At that point in her life she couldn’t remember what she had for breakfast. She never forgot that $235.

Bell&Ross BR03-92 very first release. Basically, needed a beater with easy to read dial when racing Formula 2000. Not wanting quartz, the B&R used a solid ETA movement and loved the overall style. For years I beat the living sh't out of it loading and unloading the car, wore it during racing, when working on the car, outdoor work on our acreage... etc. We're talking I treated it like utter cr@p.
I broke it once on my second year of ownership, it fell off my wrist and slammed onto hard floor crystal first. My bad. Bell&Ross fast fix... under warranty. Wonderful! She has not been serviced in well over 10 years and wore her last week. Keeping excellent time after all these years and shameless abuse. Oh, I wore it while kiteboarding a few years back....

My greatest / best money spent is my Planet Ocean 2500 XL, black bezel with orange numerals. In 2009 I bought it new for just shy of $3K after a little discount and with taxes. Stylistically it is timeless and has been very accurate and robust. |
