DSSD Warranty Question

I have a JC DSSD purchased direct from an AD in Mar 2018 with a Caliber 3135. I purchased it 1-2 weeks before the 2018 model update announcements. I love everything about the watch - size/face color/weight/bracelet. Over the past weeks the power reserve/run time seems to be slowing. Last night after a day of wearing it I laid it face up and recorded the time (08:00pm). It ran for 16hrs15min before stopping. The watch is in near-perfect condition.

Is this something likely to be covered under warranty or will the service center charge me for a service? I have a 5 year warranty card. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sounds to me like you are not active enough to keep it at full wind.

Wind it fully before checking power reserve.

Interesting.
You first need to establish wether your watch was sufficiently wound to ascertain if the Automatic winding mechanism is functioning correctly by a process of elimination.
If in doubt, the first step and standard practice is to manually wind the watch in accordance with your owners manual.
This will require in the order of 40 full winds of the Winding crown. Closer to 50 winds should be conclusive or you may stop when you can feel the Mainspring slip inside the barrel.
It is impossible to overwind your watch
Then set the watch aside without touching it and note what time you set it aside.
Compare that time with the time it eventually stops.
It should run for approximately 48 hours of its own accord.

But how do you know the watch was fully charged. You put it down after wearing it which means it’s only wound enough to keep it going. Wearing an automatic watch doesn’t mean the main spring gets fully charged.

You need to first consider that you’re not active enough to keep the mainspring charge to a high extent and that also before doing your test you need to give it a full forty clock wise turns to fully charge the spring, then see how long it takes before running down.
