Constellation 35mm

Of late I’ve developed a serious infatuation with smaller watches in the 34-36mm range. I’d previously thought of the Constellation as an “old guy” watch but not have greater appreciation (especially as it’s one of the most adorable Genta designs out there).

Looking at Omega offerings I see two versions of the Constellation on the company’s site: the 35mm with 2500 movement and the 36mm Master Chronometer. I’m assuming that the former is being phased out and have a couple of questions:

1. Besides being a true manufactured movement, I’d the MC that much better that I’d be silly to consider a 2500-powered watch over it?

1.5. Even if the answer to #1 is “yes” I’d the 2500 still an objectively good movement?

2. Are these officially discontinued and if so do ADs still have stock (stainless, light dial)?

3. What does pricing look like on these going the non-boutique AD route? Secondary market all over the place…

Thanks!

I have the 2500 in my Planet Ocean and it has been rock solid, until my recent Speedmaster 3861 it was my most accurate watch. The new METAS Speedmaster has it easily beat though (so far about 7 months of daily wear).

I wear the Planet Ocean less now, but it was mainly a daily before my Speedmaster. No issues at all for about 10 years of near daily wearing. It's probably time to have it serviced.

I happen to think the Omega 1202 is one of the most elegant dress watches there is.
