Is It Wrong To...

...buy four or five watch straps for a timepiece that won't arrive until December? Asking for a friend.

Couldn't you just go online and find out the width and then just order one?

Sometimes ordering an 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 is overkill.

That's why we end up with boxes full of watch straps.

Hehe. I couldn’t wait for my strap to arrive from Panerai so ordered 2 more from a trusted seller. It was certainly a good way to spend $600+.

EXACTLY! I'm not sure if it is. Maybe two more should do it.

I was thinking, why not just buy a Sellita top equiv with decoration for $500 and replace the lower quality stock movement. Almost cheaper to just throw away the old worn-out Sellita movement during service and slap in a new one. I think Bell&Ross does that too.

Ya know, for ~$2k I could get a fully serviced old DJ36 movement and make the Panerai a truly 'historic' piece. Ya know, as crazy as that sounds, someone should do it for sh.ts and giggles.

UPDATE

So got a couple more straps because the PAM Baby Bronzo is 22mm/20mm.

But, while I was getting some 22mm straps found these great 24mm straps, so bought one each. Is it so wrong?

Damn, my third strap book will be pretty full soon.

Your "friend" <whomever "they" may be -heh> should have as many straps as desired.
Someone posted a year or so back(?) and showed his huge collection of straps for just a small number of watches.
I'll admit I have several straps for one watch.

Sorry to break this news to you, but the novelty of strap changing will rapidly wear off. I went down that road and have boxes of OEM straps I bought during what I call my “strap phase”. They’re safely gathering dust in their pouches..somewhere in the house. I can’t even remember what colors and styles I have.

I can only wish for that feeling! 11 years of Panerai and I still love switching straps and browsing strap makers’ websites.

I’ve bought more straps seeing some of the great combinations on this forum - straps and combos that really didn’t occur to me. Part of the fun. I do find that some pieces are better candidates for different straps than others.

I change straps and timepieces more often than I dare admit. But hey, just remember it's not just the strap, as sometimes you 'need' to change the buckle too.

^^^^ this. Have seen combos online I HAD TO have. As for different combos working better, that's why I have a PAM in SS, one in CF, and soon bronze. So, yeah, buckle changing is also part of it

Quality is generally very good. For leather, in general, sometimes I find using Leatherique Rejuvenator makes it a bit more supple and durable.
