Pam 590?

Any Pam 590 owners here? A brief review / general thoughts on the model would be much appreciated…Thanks!

It was the Panerai that got me into the brand but I never bought it! I tried it on and loved the case size, but didn’t like the ‘8 days’ logo at 3pm or the non-matching dial and fake patina (a reference to a historical model). I went with 390 base, eventually a 233 and now a classic 112 base with exhibition back and decorated movement, which for me is the perfect Panerai. But, as ever, buy what you really like and of course 8 day movement is a bonus.

The Pam 590 is a really amazing Luminor model which resembles many preV and early Vendome models due to the font of the numerals and the fauxtina lume. The torpedo engraving on the case back is slightly smaller than the similar one on the 390 but still very nicely executed.

It was initially launched as N.America release only in Q series of 1000 pieces. For some reasons it has sort of polarized perception among Paneristi, mainly due to the 8 Giorni Brevettato logo replacing the numeral 3 instead of complementing it like on the Pam 203 or 339.

I had one but had to let it go to free the space for the 233. It was first running too fast in a first day when fully wound which was common for earlier p.5000 movement versions but had it regulated by Richemont service center. Still miss it sometimes until I take a look on 233 again.

I like it, kinda. But never like it enough to pull the trigger.

Ended up buying a 510 with sandwich dial and never looked back. I enjoy having the display back, and sandwich dial is a plus in my book.
