New warranty? Since when?
I have heard that Rolex gives a 5 year warranty on its watches and that this warranty is transferable.
Could anyone confirm this? And would it be possible to find out from what year this advantage applies? I am looking to buy a pre-owned yellow gold Rolex from a private party and I would be interested in having some of this guarantee left. Thanks since now. |

New warranty? Since when?
I believe Rolex began offering the five year warranty starting July of 2015. And yes, the warranty follows the watch.

RSC NYC has historically been more of a stickler than other RSC's with names matching the Warranty Card. Seems ridiculous considering if you received it as a gift.

New warranty? Since when?

Yeah, I know there’s a lot of conflicting info on this out there. But my real world experience and that of many others I’ve spoken to (including multiple ADs and a rep with RSC) tells me if the watch is within the warranty period, and has an issue covered under said warranty, they’ll fix it for you. If you buy a Rolex from a reputable and trusted reseller with box and papers, you’re gonna be fine for the remainder of the warranty period. Buying less than a full set from a less trusted source will open you to more potential issues that could void a warranty (watch was opened or serviced already, contains aftermarket parts, was falsely advertised, etc.) So of course, caveat emptor. But I feel very secure buying unworn, mint, or excellent condition watches from trusted resellers with time remaining on the factory warranty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This isn’t even an issue anymore as the cards are without names now (and arguably wasn’t before either as warranty follows the watch).

The 5 year warranty started in 2015 and was accompanied with a new green seal hang tag. https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=486588 If the watch does not have the original warranty card, Rolex will not provide warranty work if it is needed, but they will service or repair any authentic Rolex at your cost.

Very true. I've had arguments at RSC NYC about this exact issue. I won in the end. They couldn't say anything about the "gift" explanation. Man, they're arrogant there.

Speaking from experience at RSC NY - if the warranty card is not named (old style) or you are not named on the card, it can potentially be an issue. I had to tell them a few years back that the warranty follows the watch. They then voided the remainder of my warranty because I bought the watch pre owned from an AD.
