Curious case of the SCC017
So I picked this up at a significant discount. I notice it is missing the “x” yet others online have the x. I. Looking at the specs, they are both water resistance to 200m. Does this one not meet the “prospex” criteria or did seiko use some different labels? Any help is much appreciated! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It just means that your watch is not new, maybe a NOS. The Prospex logo was introduced just a couple of years ago IIRC; I just googled for SCC017 images and the second link is a watch like yours, without the X, and it was made in 2016.

Yes, I see that the watch has the x in some photos and not others. It’s definitely a BNIB with stickers and warranty card. I am assuming it’s just a dial text issue rather than any appreciable differences. Unlike many others I have no issue with the x logo but also don’t feel the need to have it either lol. Thanks for the feedback.
