Sad day incoming
Hi all
Tomorrow is a sad day as I have to sell my Daytona (Bi Metal Black Face) I have bills to pay as I’m doing substantial house renovations Truth be told it was always my Grail watch but once I got it I never really bonded with it 100% , just wore to small for me ! I have since bought a Pepsi on Jubilee which I’m keeping instead so I’m not totally out of the Rolex fold! Hopefully back into more than one Rolex In The future |

Not that sad if you didn’t really bond with it
Pepsi is a way nicer watch anyway

I never bounded with the Daytona so should not be sad for you if you never bounded with it.
And the title should say outgoing ? ;-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

There’s nothing to be sad about OP. Even if a watch isn’t what we thought it would be we still feel remorse when we sell them. If my experience is comparable to your own, you’ll get over it and the more watches you move on the closer you’ll get to your grail.

Nothing wrong with that, mate. Watches are toys for most of us at the end of the day…priorities are priorities.

Plot twist. I thought you were inheriting a watch from a deceased love one. Selling a watch you don’t love isn’t so sad, especially when you are likely getting all your money back or more.

If you didn’t like wearing it, then it’s kind of cool that your watch is paying for things you need!

I agree with this! I have a terrific wine collection with some old Bordeaux and New World, and like most collectors, I’m almost disappointed when I open “the last one”. (That usually resolves, once we start drinking it, of course!! ![]() Anyway, over the years there have been a couple of events that required some $$, to which I responded by selling a few cases of high end vino. The unexpected benefit is that when I think about our new AC system, I think about the older d’Yquems that paid for it (well, partially…!). So, you’ve got the gorgeous BLRO, and while the “collector” part of you doesn’t want to let go of that “desirable” Daytona, LET IT GO, brother! There will be others that move into your life, to be sure. But c’est la vie!! Remember that line: “it’s only money!” ![]() Congratulations on having the options! ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A watch is just a watch in the end of the day. Nothing irreplaceable.

Not sad. You and your family will get much better use out of the home renovations than the watch.

I guess one benefit of this madness is that one can enjoy a watch for a while, and than if priorities shift, which occurs often can unload it easily for similar if not more money than one spent. Prior to all the madness, one good Rolex was all one ever needed and the GMT is the most versatile watch in the Rolex catalog.

Good of you to sell a watch to take care of other priorities versus seeking alternative methods. Especially a watch that wasn’t high on your list.
If s*** ever hits the fan for me financially, some and hopefully not all will go. I’ve got a few PM pieces so hopefully letting one go would suffice if ever. Granted I love em all so I might not share your same sentiments.

As for renovations, I spent about $30k renovating a rental property last year and between easy financing options at Home Depot, Lowes and Carpet One, I was able to float most of that from 24 to 48 months with no interest charges. Totally the way to go in my opinion if your credit is good, and now that I have the rental income again, paying it off has been easy. |

When you’re on your last breath you’ll be thankful to be at your home, not regretting a lousy luxury watch sale.
Enjoy the reno. |

Renovation is more important than a watch. Not a fan of the Daytona anyway. For me I would be happy to put it to good use rather than sad. Time will go on, enjoy your Pepsi in the meantime.

Letting go off a piece you're not wearing and not really enjoying is a good thing, it's kind of liberating. So, well done.

I no longer count the times I had to sell a watch or a car (or both) for a real estate purchase or the inherent renovation and it was before these crazy prices!

Don't be sad about prioritizing your life over material things.
This happens to many of us at one point or another. Family, health, food, rent, etc., always comes first. The rest is just fluff.
