AP Royal Oak or Offshore
Hello all. Quick question. I've generally been a Rolex wearer since I was able to afford luxury watches. I'm interested in upgrading one of my precious metals to an AP. Have always loved the royal oak and would look to get in rose gold chrono or 15500. Additionally, I've learned that the new AP offshores come in 43mm now as I visited an AD that is a good friend. The smoke/taupe 43mm offshore was nice. Any owners of either that can lend some advice on APs? Thanks so much.

Other than the obvious "get what you like most" this may depend on your wrist size and how you see it fitting into your collection. The RO models are the classic models, thinner, and primarily on bracelets. The ROO models are thicker, sportier, and on primarily on straps. I'm on my second ROC and have not really been tempted by ROOs due to their larger size not really fitting my wrist. Even though I like the versatility of straps and bracelets, the ROs on bracelets are simply special.

I understand where you’re coming from. I have a larger wrist so either model would be fine for me. Was looking to replace a sky dweller. What Royal oak chrono models do you have?

nothing beats a rose gold ap on bracelet so my pick would be going with a chrono or 15500 instead of an offshore

AP RO with full bracelet looks so gorgeous.
I would go for 15500OR for AP RO or 26239OR or 26331OR for AP ROC with full bracelet.

Had the 25860 in steel. Traded it towards a rose gold 26022 and added a bracelet like the 25960. 39mm on 6.5” wrist ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I personally find 15500 (regardless of dial color or metal type) to feel a bit boring after a little while because of how empty the dial is. For some it's a draw, for me it feels too empty for my personal taste.
Blue ROC was very attractive and I felt this way before the market went crazy. However, I also didn't like how much I felt I needed to baby the watch. If this option is one the table, I'd definitely go for it. Surprisingly, I wear ROO 43 most these days for durability and care free fun, even though I find it laughably tall. Since you've seen it already now, you would not if you're drawn to the dial or not. Congrats in advance! |

I’m in the same boat, the 15500 is a bit of a dinner plate on my wrist - throw in some complications and it sizes better. I’d try and get a ROC with the new integrated movement or the 43mm ROO, both are great pieces that are a strong representation of the brand |

to add to this, i would try to go check them out at a grey dealer. i think the RO line is one of the least photogenic watches out there. in photos they look bland but at a store with the right lighting (and they all have this on purpose) there's nothing that glimmers like that bracelet

I tried this on a few weeks ago. Out of my league but my god what a watch.
Price was £75k Inc tax so quite a jump from the other stuff. ![]() ![]() |

The offshore finishing is a step down from the RO. RO all day imo.
Stamped dial, steel vs white gold bolts, rubber strap (usually), chrono module on an undersized movementS, etc. Definitely not what I would consider a high end watch but comes with a high price tag. |

You need both honestly. Joking aside it comes down to lifestyle imo. I am down in Florida and and outside around water weekly and the offshore on rubber is perfect and easy to clean up. GL

I find the royal oak collection more comfortable for my wrists, which are not small. Hopefully you can try both.

Not sure that applies in this current mkt. All the new 42mm offshores are selling for over. I wish it wasn't the case because the waitlists are insane right now and the stores are all empty.

They are all nice. I guess it really comes down to how are you going to wear it. If you are looking for an everyday kick it around, then yes go with the new 43mm. More so one with the ceramic bezel. If you are a casual wearer, then go with the rose gold.
At the end of the day, be careful, you are going to want them both. |

I have some Royal Oaks and a couple of Offshores. Love them all.
In terms of which to go for. The Royal Oak is a true classic and timeless. Suits every occasion and is understated whilst being eye-catching. The Offshore is fun and oxymoronic. Not timeless. Doesn’t sit every occasion. But fun! As an only watch, the Royal Oak gets my vote. As part of a collection, the Offshore gets my vote. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
