Good work watch?

Hey group,
I own a company and part of my role involves me going to sales meetings (very infrequently, maybe 3-4x a month). These sales meetings usually involve me meeting with mid level managers (branch managers, general managers, etc), occasionally a larger non-profit/church, etc.

My current collection includes a black Daytona, a Pepsi, and a Longines Flagship Heritage (the one I wear exclusively for these meetings). Lately i've been itching for a new watch and thought maybe I should just upgrade the Longines.

Couple questions:
1. No one has ever noticed any of my watches, or if they have, they haven't commented on them. Should I even worry? I'd hate to lose a sale over something as trivial as a watch. After the initial 1-2 sales meetings I dont have any futher interaction with them.

2. What is a good under the radar watch that works well for this sort of work setting but something I could also enjoy wearing day to day to add another staple into my collection.

Santos de Cartier. Wear with various straps. Someone online even got the oem rubber strap from the chrono version to wear with the large santos. A considered and elegant choice imho

I'm also considering adding a 36mm Explorer for work, but there's still a stigma with the 'Rolex' name.

Of course, this being TRF I expect most of the comments here to read "who cares what you're wearing - buy a Day Date and rock that bad boy".

If you want something to replace/upgrade the Longines but keep the same style watch… maybe the new Breitling Premier, IWC, or a Zenith.

If you want something that looks different… Omega or Cartier.

What makes you think that that a customer would primarily base their on decision-making on the watch you are wearing (as an owner of a company)? Nothing you own i “flashy” imo and hence buy what you want.

Right ... as OP said the people he meets with don't even notice his watch. So short of a PM with lots of bling, the choices are unlimited. The question seems to be more driven by GAS rather than a genuine need for a watch to wear to work.

Love the Longines Flagship. That is a fabulous piece and outstanding taste on your part!

Is the date complication a must?? If no-date is a choice, then I like OP (especially silver dial with the gold indices), Explorer, or a Santos Medium versus JLC Reverso. All super classy, tasteful, perfect size, professional, and can be worn casually too and all would add to your collection.

If Date function is mandatory, then maybe an Omega Aqua Terra or Grand Seiko. Datejust is great too but it will no doubt get recognized as a result of the iconic cyclops bubble.

The Aqua Terra is another great option. There are also many Grand Seiko which would be perfect for work. SBGH273 is one of my favourites from them.

I doubt anyone cares what watch your wearing. If you lose a sale because of the watch your wearing, you have bigger problems.

I would wear a Casio, or Timex. I personally think it shows your humble, and don’t care what others think about what your wearing.

Get this.

I have 11 Rolex watches and then this Hublot. It’s about $5k and digital.

When I’m in the situations you describe, especially when I’m not sure, I wear this.

People think it’s a Fitbit type watch and don’t realise it’s a Hublot, except for connoisseurs.

It’s perfect!

This.

My first thought was some Omega or an IWC pilot watch.

Why not get a classic Omega Moon watch. Specifically the 1861/1863/3861. Buy it on the bracelet but pick up a few OEM straps for a change up. Not super expensive, fun to wear and a classic that never goes out of style.

How about your shoes, car or clothing? I believe you should do your job effectively

Help me understand. Google wear if I’m not mistaken. Can have the same software with more features for 200$. Software obsolete in 3-4 years.

In this case you literally have to shell out 5k for a compromised technology. It sort of looks like a Hublot, but not really any more than a ga2100 looks like a royal oak with the 3rd party bracelet.

I am NOT trying to bring the watch down. Just curious the what led you to buying this?

For Op I’d go 126610ln or 124270 which would be appreciated by anyone who notices and not to ostentatious for any professional situation. I also think your Daytona accomplishes this just fine!

I can honestly say that no one at work notices what I wear, either clients or employees. Wear what you want and enjoy it - I can almost guarantee that you are the only one putting a lot of thought into this.

I understand your comments. However, I didn’t buy it for the software, in fact I couldn’t care less about the software, no idea if it’s google wear or whatever.

I like that it comes with different backgrounds which I can change. It’s entirely made of ceramic, which has a real nice feel to it.

It’s low-profile enough to wear to most places I go when I travel to certain countries and it has GMT functionality, moon-phase functionality and automatically update the time when I land.

Plus you don’t see many people with this watch. I don’t like the rectangular look of the apple watch.

To each his own.

If I go to Japan I wear my blue SkyDweller and/or my White TT SkyD.
If I go to Europe I wear my ExpII and bring my Hublot so I have a choice.
South America only Hublot.
USA my 117710LN or my 126710BLRO and my Hublot
Southeast Asia my JC or Milgauss.

I meet with clients 3-4 times every work day, long sleeves in winter and short sleeves in summer, button-down collar Oxfords, not once has anyone ever noticed or commented on my watch, all of which in my signature I have worn repeatedly.

Wear what you want.

I think this is the reason why OP is considering a "work" watch.

Makes sense to me.

I wear an apple watch to work simply for this reason.
I had a client once whose seiko marine master I was observing, and commented on. He was totally in love with it, he said Rolex is a waste of money and look what you get for the money. He asked if I was into my watches and I just said this is the only watch I have. It wasn't the right client to discuss my watch enthusiasm with because of his opinion.

When selling you will get the not bothered and bothered, you don't want to lose a sale simply because of an opinion of the bothered.

Frankly, I avoid Rolex at work. To the general public it’s a flashy nouveau riche watch and usually the only luxury brand they know (Patek has to be careful not to end up in that same spot). Let’s be real: it’s associated with gangs, monsters and people with no taste.
Your Longines is probably better for sales meetings.
Or pick up any Omega you like. I’ve been wearing my Speedmaster for many years in professional settings and had it only noticed by other watch people.
Or pick up an Apple Watch. I’m serious.
