Icon8 Why don't they upgrade this website engine to handle large pictures?

Every forum supports large file types and will compress it during uploads. Why doesnt this forum support it (considering it's supposed to host a largely luxurious watch brand)? Then they take "pledge" donations ..where the heck is the money going if they can't even get this website engine to current standards in the world of hosting?

I mean it's 2021 and some less familiar people now fly to space in their own private jets but this forum wants you to resize nice pictures to small thumbnail's?

Rant out.

Download Tapatalk and it’s not an issue. The forum is the way the forum is, Steve and the mods do a great job.

Click on the picture in your photos app. Click “edit” at the top right corner. Then resize and edit accordingly.

It would be really neat if they added a feature that would automatically resize larger photos to the acceptable size.

The real reason is they don’t want a picture of Chewy, to get all of him on the site would take a LOT of bandwidth

Why don’t you upgrade it for the forum? Do send Steve an email about your plan and how you aim to achieve it.

Photoshop Elements is inexpensive, has a lot of features, and is easy to use.

Agreed! Would love to know if steve has a roadmap for upgrades or things that need to be done on the site that us members could help with. Storage, while pretty inexpensive, isn’t free. If our pledge dollars help, that’s great. If they don’t cover everything i imagine most of us are happy to throw a few more dollars in.

Nothing wrong with feedback but for it to be effective it has to be delivered in the correct way.
I think most people on here don’t give a monkeys what people say on other forums. Lots that I have seen go on constantly about market values and most people on here don’t give a monkeys about those either.
I agree posting photos is a pain until you get Tapatalk, then it’s a breeze.

OP its a taboo subject here as I’m sure you have surmised by now after reading the responses.

One step further, just pledge a random member or two occasionally. Then gift a giveaway draw when they come around.

I agree that it would certainly drive more photo participation for people that don’t want to host their photos anywhere. I’ve never had the desire and don’t want the hassle just to post a pic here.

And isn’t their some ad revenue generated by unique visitors or views or something? Most boards are free and provide this feature I assume based on that.

I tried tapa talk - didn’t work for me

Agree it is a pain ha I g to resize but generally only adds an extra minute onto any upload

Few suggestions

Only pledge members allowed to post pics
Make the pledge payment a few quid more to cover any storage costs.

Probably the main reason so many don’t pledge is you get all the benefits anyway without doing it. Rarely go into the after dark forum anyway & no one’s missed my much by non pledge access restrictions
