15500 vs 15450 wrist size

In an ideal world I think most men would opt for the 15202 given the fantastic size and proportions but obviously prices on those are absolutely insane.

IMO 41mm is simply too large unless your wrist is at least 7" in diameter. But 37mm feels too small for most men.

Anyone with a smaller wrist that went with a 15500? What are your thoughts?

I have a smaller 6.5 and no issues at all. But my wrist is quite flat so that helps. Either way, I don’t care or invite anyone else’s opinion ;).

The usual thought is that one can "pull it off" although in some cases a 15450 might have been the better solution.

Tried on both the 15500 and 15450 in the store. Went with the 15500 for the reason that it "looks" proportionally better on me from afar given my stature (medium build). The 15450 is more comfortable though! My wrist size is only 6.25"

I have a 6.4" wrist and have the 15500ST. It's definitely pushing the envelope for me but I like how it feels. To me, it's not supposed to be demure like a dress watch. It's supposed to have noticeable wrist presence.

Another thing to note is not to focus only on how it looks when looking at the front section of your wrist, when viewed from above while your wrist is pronated. When I look at the 15500 on my wrist with a myopic view like that, sure, it can look rather large. However, my forearms are a decent size relative to my wrist, so I like how it appears when viewed with my entire forearm in sight. Also, when resting my arm in a neutral position on the side and seeing myself in a mirror, I also like the proportions from that view.

Ultimately it subjectively depends on how large or small you prefer your watches to wear. My wrist is ~6.6", I have owned both models and would select neither. My .02 the dial on the 15500 is too empty and optically makes the watch wear larger, I thought too large for my wrist. The 15450 was too small for me, especially the dial, I think a better fit for those with wrist 6.25" and below - it fit my gf's wrists better and she is quite petite.

Personally the 15202 is the perfect size for me. Alternatively, if looking for something more reasonably priced, the 26315st is the sleeper in the current lineup IMO. It is 38mm but being a chrono with pushers, wears a touch larger and not too thick.

If you are willing to go preowned then take a look at the 15300 which is 39mm or even a 15400 which in my eyes wore smaller than my 15500.

For your reference I have posted a few photos below of the aforementioned models i've owned with the exception of the 26315 which belongs to a good buddy of mine.

Do you normally wear your watches forward of your wristbone? Those images don’t give a true representation of size due to positioning, as this seems like a very unnatural way of wearing a watch.

It is a matter of personal preference, I prefer it forward of the ulna. My wrist does not taper, it would optically wear the same size if I wore it behind instead, so I suspect it still provides a true representation of size as the diameter is the same.

I personally think the 15500 is too big for my wrist (6.75). I find the dial too plain, whereas the 26331 having subdials breaks up just how big the dial looks and that fits in a weird way.

15202 definitely best for sub 7 inch wrists imo

I have small wrists, so for me despite the majority of people saying the 15500 is the way to go, I went with what I thought best suited me, the 15450. 0 regrets, it’s perfect and having a watch which perfectly fits you is hard to beat.

I have 6.6" wrist, wear from 36mm to 41mm.

this is much more a question of taste than wrist size.

I have about a 6.7" wrist and am fine with 40-43mm watches when they're pieces I think of as sportier, like a rolex. but for a royal oak I think of as a much dressier watch and I much much prefer the 37mm to the 41mm. I've worn a 15450 for the last 3 years and wouldn't want it any larger.

The issue is not so much the 41mm diameter. It's the massive 52mm lug-to-lug and fixed bracelet ends that make it appear and feel much larger.

I’ve noted that a lot of people warn how the 15450 may look when seen by others or in a mirror. The real question is how it looks to you, the person wearing the watch. That’s the view you’ll be seeing 99% of the time. So I guess your answer will depend on whether you’re wearing the watch to make you happy or others happy. I’m at the point in my life where I choose me.
