Changing straps on a Pam 111

I have in the past owned a more modern Panerai with the rather convenient quick strap changing system, I miss that feature on my beloved Pam 111.

I have this fear that the sharp end of the strap change screwdriver will scratch the case around the lugs, or the threads will strip or wear out, or the strap pins will get undone and strap will come loose.

How are Pam 111 veterans dealing with this?

Does using the spring bar strap pins with faux screw ends offer a solution?

I don't mind the screw in pins. I have not had any issues in my 5 years of ownership of the 111. I do have small scratches around the holes, but it doesn't bug me.

No issues with stripping or wearing out the threads so far. Never have the threads come loose for me.

I put masking tape over the screw in case of a slip but have has no issues. Poke a small hole in the tape first w the screwdriver.

If you’re really careful you can do it without scratches.

It’s a tool watch. Scratch it! I have a 112 and change straps weekly. My eyesight isn’t what it was, but it doesn’t deter me. Take it slow at first.

Use a watchmaker loop and you won't make any scratches.
