Datejust 16030 Bezel Question

Hi all,

I bought this watch for a fairly established jewelry store in my area back in 2011. It was obviously pre-owned at the time but had just been refurbished and looked fantastic. Fast forward to ten years later and I’m reading on this forum and doing research as I contemplate another vintage buy and came across a discussion regarding bezels. When I bought this, the dealer indicated that it had a white gold, fluted bezel. It’s actually a engine turned bezel though, right? And, if I am correct:
1. It’s not made of gold then, right?
2. Is the style of bezel appropriate for the watch itself?
3. Does the fact that it has an engine turned bezel rather than a gold, fluted bezel impact the value at all in either direction?

I appreciate any thoughts either way.

Chris

Ps. That’s a hair from my dog on the crystal and not a scratch.

1. No, it’s a fully steel watch.
2. I believe it is, on my 16220 I have it also.
3. I think it does, because it is becoming more rare now. It is a short produced and now discontinued bezel. Truly in love with it! PFR.

It's SS engine-turned and the correct bezel for a 16030. Fluted gold would not be correct for a 16030. So assuming it's actually a 16030, you're good, but I would check between the lugs to be sure.

Thank you both. I really appreciate it. I’ve had the watch since 2011 and, without having done the additional research, I had no idea it wasn’t a fluted bezel.

It’s funny the only at things work out. I had been debating upgrading the dial to a factory diamond dial but ultimatum thought it made the most sense to just get a second Datejust that already had one and so glad I made that decision now—I would have been annoyed spending all that money on a factory dial that, in light of the steel bezel, just didn’t belong on my watch. And, after I purchased the diamond dial and learned about the different bezels, I was drawn to the engine turned one and thought that I had to make sure my next one had one given the awesome craftsmanship—nice to know I actually already have one and can save that money :)

I will definitely not be going back to the same dealer for servicing or anything else moving forward though.
