Oysterflex Sizing Clarification
Hi all,
Looking to purchase Oysterflex straps with Smarty End Links for my 116500. I have a 6.5" (~165mm) wrist and I wear my Daytona with 4 links on the 6 o'clock side and 5 links on the 12 o'clock side. According to this thread, I should go with size D and size E. But when I look up Oysterflexes for sale, each side is referenced in two letters (e.g. ED, EF, EG). I don't see any Oysterflexes in size D and size E (or any other single letters). TIA for any help! PS - Merry Christmas!

I wear 4 links and 5 links. I'm confused why you suggest D (4 links equivalent) and F (6 links equivalent)?

I’m confused by what you’re confused about. If you wear 4 and 6 and get the straps which are the same as 4 and 6. (This has to be obvious right)? Ed is the same as d Ef is the same as f. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Ah, I see. So E is a universal prefix for any size. Size D is really ED and size E is really EE - is that right?

Maybe I've lost weight since I last measured my wrist at 6.5" and am closer to 6.25" these days?

One other tip. Make sure you let them know in advance you won’t accept lug nics. My 126655 had three in the end one from rsc! Oysterflex is a bastard to fit. Never again for me.

Here’s my OF thread:
https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=831026 From what I could determine- the double letters were replaced by single letters. For my 7 inch wrist (and other Rolex link counts) an E and F should have been the perfect fit. But, I don’t think Rolex accounts for the fins popping up off the wrist (unlike a bracelet would). So I needed to go one size up on one of the OF’s. See pics in thread

I wish Rolex would equip the oysterflex straps with quick release springbars that’s become very common in other brands. |

Letter number corresponds to number of links.
E and F is default for Daytona and will fit a 7 inch wrist. 6.5 inch would likely be D and F with some micro adjustment. I thought lug nicks were normal? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Usually they won’t sell to you unless it’s an exchange. Regardless good luck with it. Even rsc watchmakers have trouble.

Just bought one the other day, they let me keep the old one. In the past if the watch was under 2 years old and no wear, they will do a free exchange but they keep the old strap as long as you bring the warranty card along.

I’ve done pretty well in the past. I now use a Nam Hing tool, which works great. But people keep saying the OF is a PITA to put on.

I have a 6.5 inch wrist and have an 116500 and an 116509 in oysterflex. For the 116500 I have 4 links/5 links at 6/12 o'clock with the clasp set in the loosest (3rd) position. This translates to a D/E at 6/12 o'clock with the clasp set in the loosest (3rd) position. My recommendation would be to follow the oyster link to oysterflex conversion chart in the link the OP posted in their original post and not use the Rolex measuring tape.

Hello, new here, but I have the 116500 with smarty end links and aftermarket rubber strap, rather than the OE Oysterflex from Rolex.
My buddy is local AD and they will not sell a customer the OE straps unless you have a piece that originally came with them. I spent $30 on aftermarket rubber and it looks great. You won't be disappointed! Cheers. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk |
