Exchanging Bezel Inserts on GMT
I read in previous posts that GMT owners exchange their bezel inserts to give their watches a new look from time to time. How delicate a procedure is this to prevent bending or deforming the insert? How many times can the bezel itself be snapped off and on the case without affecting the flange around the crystal? I always assumed you only did this once or twice during the life of the watch in case of accidental damage.

John,
It is a pretty straight forward operation, but you are right.... the insert is a relatively soft aluminum and can bend or deform easily if forced. You cannot damage the bezel with the insert popping in and out, but you do degrade the edges of the insert, so over time, the insert may not fit as tight as originally.. Personally, I just have a couple of different GMT's....... I don't ever have to change the insert........
