Does anyone have any outrageous deals to report?

A few months ago a local jeweler in Fort Worth was having a once-a-year sale where they had some Rolexes cornered off, about 10 watches, that were 25% off with no hassle. They were models that had been in inventory for over a year and this sale was once a year, you couldn't get those deals at any other time, etc. Nevertheless I thought that those were great deals if you were looking for any of those models (two-tone subs, datejusts, black-dialed explorer II, etc.)

A few weeks ago I was at a Jared in Southlake (Dallas/Fort Worth area) and they had a 45.5mm Omega Planet Ocean on bracelet, no boxes or papers, but $1187!!! That was an impossible deal - when I was fiddling with the watch, I wound it up, and at one point the movement stopped for a beat, and then it came back up, so clearly the movement needed servicing. But even after $500 worth of service on a watch that new, it still would have netted out to a good deal if the watch weren't way too big for me.

Anyway, I LOVE good deals, and enjoy my purchase a lot more if I feel like I got an outrageous deal on something. Has anyone come across anything like this lately? I can't imagine many out there are dropping money even close to MSRP on watches in this economy....

Oh, on another note, the Bailey Banks and Biddle in the Dallas Galleria is closing, and they have every watch in the store for 30% off or more, including Omegas, Tags, etc.

No BB&B sells Rolex as far as I know, but most have Omega, Breitling, Tag, Zenith, Montblanc, and a couple others I can't think of.

Would you like to buy a broken Timex for $50,000? That sounds like an outrageous deal!

My AD was closing a poor performing store and they had Rolex quite a few Rolex's for 50% off. They were older models that were DQ'd AK, OPD, DJ etc...though they did have a few over the top all gold lady DJ's.

I know of one store that is no longer a Rolex dealer and is selling their remaining Rolex watches between 25% to 40% off MSRP.

All the BB&B stores are closing, get 'em while you can. And no, they don't sell Rolex. Or anything else good except for Omega and Tag.

Are you sure all of them are closing? I thought it was just select stores...?

There are some "good" private deals to be had in the UK at the moment.

I was able to lay my grubby little paws on a 7 month old 116234 with original Diamond dial, complete with all boxes, papers and original receipt of sale; for more then 2k GBP less then the new price.

I am very happy indeed!

Colin.

I bought a 14060M a few weeks back from an AD in England that had it in stock for a couple of years. It cost £2400 BNIB plastic seals intact full warranty etc. That was £200 cheaper than I could find second hand in the ADs here. As you can imagine I didn't dither about it I grabbed it quick. I felt pretty chuffed about it until some on this site implied I was bull****ing. Still, I've got the watch on my wrist at a great price and I love it.

Dang, I didn't see that thread, but if you're the one that got the great deal, who cares if anyone believes you? You're literally the one laughing all the way to the bank!

No actually the opposite.

I guess the recession is over and good times are here again.

I have been to 3 different dealers all in the last week and discounts are no where to be found on Rolex. Oh well.

Took advantage of the unfortunate closing of BB&B today. Purchased a Mont Blanc Timewalker Automatic Chronograph for $1385. Retail sticker was $3880.....65% off-not too bad.
