Looking for a jubilee bracelet

Hi all, I bought my husband a vintage datejust rolex last year for his birthday and would like to buy a compatible bracelet so that he can add a different look but don't know much about what to look for. I believe we need a rolex jubilee bracelet and am hoping to find a stainless steel one.

I attached some more details about the watch below. Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated!

TIA

I don't really want to click on a file from a new member. Can you post a photo? If it has a fluted bezel, then a jubilee bracelet would be correct. Stainless if white gold, two-tone for two-tone, gold for gold. Maybe you can just indicate the reference number of the watch (something like 1601, 16013, etc.), whether it is all stainless or two-tone or gold, and either the year or the serial number. If you know the type of bezel (smooth, fluted, engine-turned), then note that also. Then we can tell you which bracelet and endlinks would have been original, and also we can tell you the more modern authentic replacement bracelet and end-links that will fit.

Stainless Jubilee, not a Two Tone. Too bad it was not a two-tone, have one of those....

I'd take it to Rolex and get them to put it on a modern bracelet. That way you'll know it's genuine, correct and secure.

If you don't have expertise in the field, the vintage bracelet market is very difficult to negotiate in terms of condition, fakes, pricing, etc.

Thanks for your response! Here are the details below. I got a picture to upload but its kind of small, hopefully you can get a sense for it though

Reference number of the watch: 1601
The case is stainless steel
Fluted bezel
serial number: 1948400

Looks great. As you probably know, it likely dates to 1967/68. With the fluted bezel, a stainless jubilee would be the correct bracelet, but you have several choices.

If you want something period-correct, the cheapest option would be a folded-link 6251 with 55 end-links. I like these bracelets, but many people find them flimsy and they are often in fairly poor condition ("stretched"). An "oval link" jubilee bracelet could also be original to the watch, depending on where it was sold. This would be a nice choice IMO if you can find one in good condition, or if you have time to get it restored.

You could also use a more modern/upgraded (but still vintage) Rolex jubilee bracelet, like a 62510, which I believe started at some time in the 1970s and were made for decades. These are a bit more solid-feeling than the period-correct bracelets and readily available on the internet, but still very often in a stretched-out condition. Finally, as suggested above, you could buy a new replacement bracelet from Rolex.

I think any of these would be fine, and it really depends on your husband's preferences. Do you think he would prefer something period-correct or something more modern and solid? Personally, I would go with an oval link.

As has been said, I also feel a modern Jubilee from Rolex is the way to go on this.

I too recommend a service and a new modern Rolex bracelet. The market for the period correct bracelets is a minefield, even for seasoned collectors. Lot’s of fakes or frankly unserviceable bracelets being sold for big money.

Thank you for the detailed info, I appreciate it. I think he'd still lean toward something vintage so Ill check out those options!
